The Reality's End Chat Room is proud to be hosted on Meebo, which is a browser-based IM suite. There's nothing to it; just type stuff! Even if nobody's in, logs are kept and can be responded to at a later time. Sounds spiffy to me.
You can always check out the AIM chatroom named realitysend if you don't like Meebo. I'm in both, usually.
