Has anybody else other than me noticed that troops aren't getting as much score as they are supposed to? I had one winning battalion's ten troops all only get 10 score added to their totals, and I had one retreating battalion's troops only get 1.

A troop instantly gets 10 score added to it if it is present in a battle without being used. This means if your opponent never accepts the battle or you just never place the troop down and win, they will get 10 score.

Losing a battle with the same conditions of "not being used" or retreating only gets you the 1 point in your score.

So, those numbers seem fine to me.

I said all troops, so at least one in every situation should have gotten more than those numbers.

Also, are you sure about the never accepting a battle part? I thought that if there was no response for five days, then you got the area without a battle and no score is changed.

You are right about that part; no score is handed out if an opponent retreats before a battle begins. No wounds, either. A challenge must be accepted for either.

So long as it enters battle, a troop gets one point. A winner will bump this up to an instant ten. Even if used, more than these amounts is not guaranteed; it depends on how much the troop does during the battle to figure how much they will earn.

  By the way...

...You said that the easiest way to get an Elder at 2500 points would be to deploy a tenth unit that does nothing, for a 10-point per battle. What if this tenth unit, deployed at the very end, also kills something, and since this is the last possible action, that's the end of it? Wouldn't that be even faster than just deploying it with doing nothing?

Okay, how can you know to ask this question and not know the answer to it? Both compenents were stated right next to one another.

First, I didn't say the fastest way. I said the only way. Unless a monster sits a few battles on the sidelines, it will have too many wounds to make it to the required point amount.

Second, as I have already stated from the very topic you got this question from (which I don't know why you aren't posting it there, but then again, if you knew were it was, you would already know the answer), it is the wound/score ratio that is of primary concern hear. You aren't trying to simply level a monster up; you are trying to get it to live long enough to become a general.

Not using a monster will give you a ten-to-one score-to-wound ratio on a win. Use the monster, and even if it isn't attacked, you would need to defeat, like five or six enemies in one fell swoop in order to bring that ratio to the same amount as not using the monster.

You'll get a lot of points real fast playing the monster, but you'll also die real fast. And dead monsters don't level up.

Out of curiosity, how many battles on average would it take to raise a nymph into a mature troop? I was wondering so I could plan out my battles with my troops.

  There is no such thing.

It is impossible to gauge a monster's growth in "average battles." There is no such thing as an average battle. Even if you were to win every fight, the score would greatly depend on how many enemies were defeated and tiles captured.
There is no average number for that. Even if you were to assume that every monster has eight tiles, if would entirely depend on when they were placed in the battle. Early troops could end up with a big goose-egg for the end capture; late ones would have all eight. * uses StoneSentry on draggy1234 to watch carefully the new oracle of Shadora *
