I've noticed that some o' the RPs are gettin' junked with non-story involved posting. Well, I remembered how back in the Glory Days of VB * insert heavenly choir *, we would actually have a topic occuring simutaneously with the story for the sole purpose of discussing the story.
Of course, since there really ain't that much of a happening right now, I figure for now (at least) we can get away with one waste basket, catch all, shoot yer mouth off thread for the lot of existing RPs.
So, you know, here we can say stuff like, "What's the deal with Cold Wind?", "Why did everyone start the hatin' on Camo's Pub?", "I like monkeys?", "Why doesn't anyone add to RumbloRama?" and the such. But, more importantly, the post that made me post the post about posts in ... the post?

There's a mixed up statement. In all honesty, your contribution to the Search post was actually pretty good. The character had a lot of definition, usefulness, and would up being integrated rather well. The real only problem was how you put 'em in. And, has anyone actually read all of The Search recently? I mean, I know I'm guilty of not reading it all, but Ems was a'telling me just how muckered up the entire thing is, which I do slightly recall. Apparently, Dracon shifts from being a small boy to a heaving muscle man (that one was my bad! wee!) There were several miscommunications between people ("Okay, guys, that's all of the frickin' people. No more stupid, boring, humans. Now, they only have monsters left." "... more people'd!" "... "), and a whole load of junk in the start with Ice getting all jumbled up and the revision of Boyachi's evil-to-good character. And who can forget that day of confusion caused by me and Ems simutane-posting majory, storyline changing posts at the same time.
I mean, wow, its amazing that topic was labeled a biohazard and set out to pasture... radioactive pasture.
Anyhoo, I praddle on. Current topics, old topics, topics that should be made, all is open to ramble. Someone else (or, better, all else) should have a chance to two-cent chew-ear people.
... kinky! If this made sense, I'm obviously not trying hard enough.

Yea, that was basically how the mixup with the shoppe keep happened, I was writing at the same time as someone posted.
From now on shall it be a rule that you check to see if this has happened.
BTW...no one seems to have added to the aftermath since I posted, I basically wanted in, to add a plot twist and, hit someone with a car, and since Gobbo, you already had, I figured you wouldn't mind. I wasn't really sure if you were in disguse or not...so I just kinda kept to the old man thing you setup.
Cold wind I have been thinking about writing the steelix battle, but I figured it was someone elses turn.
The search I didn't want to get yelled at anymore in.
And RoR I just avoided because it seemed to be too long into the storyline for someone new.
If you want my Aftermath thing deleted just say so...or...delete it. I kinda liked it, but parts I didn't. I didn't want to edit it again though for fear of over dictating others' characters.
The New Dawn has risen. Are you the one to unlock it?

Maybe not many people want to participate in that story because it doesn't look too appealing. Or maybe people are worried about being criticized again, so they're taking the safe route and staying away.
I, for one, got the message that my contribution wasn't of the correct quality for the story. Don't worry, I'm still watching it.

I never really knew what ever became of yer post there. I only saw it after I had used the reserve set on Aftermath to see that you posted a scant few seconds after I had my claim already staked. After that, I never saw or heard about it again.

MG, I wasn't specifically referring to that post. Let me try to clear up what happened.
I first made a post to the Aftermath topic since I thought I'd be the first other person to contribute. When I finished and posted, I saw your message about a minute ahead of mine. For a while, I thought I'd wait and see if you would move your post down. When you didn't and made your story contribution, I deleted my original post and proceeded to make another one to continue from your post. Afterwards, about a few days later when I checked Boyachi's new post on the topic, mine wasn't there anymore.

Oh, so you did notice the double post? Well, rule of thumb is that if you see your post after someone elses, get rid of yours 'cause they had the spot first.
This would especially be true of your post -- it was so short! And, no offense, but nothing really happened in it. You just sorta made Vinny stand up and walk away. I think Gobbo covered that in the first line of his post.
At any rate, I deleted it due to the confusion is caused when paired with Gobbo's. Feel free to make another addition, but if you are going to be a while, reserve a spot first.
When not simul-posting, however, you do very well to uphold the Golden Rules of VB. I mean, I do not think you have once added yourself to a story -- brilliant! All to often, all an author does is try to get themselves in as fast a possible, often with the worst results possible.
Please realize, people, that I do not have the bandwidth for an RP forum, not am I especially looking to have RPs. Forum RPs are largely stupid. When I say FtRPG is a joke, forum RPs are the butt of it.
What is here at RE is really supposed to be more of interactive stories, like the all-powerful VB. Now, a lot of you may say "Ain't that the same thing?" The answer is "No, stupid!" Normally, such things as "bunnying", or controlling a character that is not yourself, is discouraged. In an interactive story, you can do nothing but control other people!
The only thing to do in these interactive stories is abide by one rule: make the story interesting. I mean, no one can get mad at you if you do that, right?
The problem with Search is not the number of bad posts made in it, but the number of good posts. Typically, a story can go one way or the other. If it were not for all of the really good additions, that thing would have been so deleted!
Even the bad posts within it were not written bad. The writers just didn't read and made illogical events occur. I mean, the insto-character-adding and even hey-I'm-in-the-background-don't-pay-attention-to-me-how-worthless-a-device-is-this-isms can be written into something useful for the story, except when the original adder throws a hissy-fit for someone else taking liberties with their addition
So yeah, just remember these two Golden Rules -- only make interesting additions, and friggin' read the story you are adding to before you add to it.

Hell that warning was just for idiots. And not that I didn' mean some people who will probably post in this. I just want people to stay away from small posts that only introduce a new character, or have them start on their way somewhere.
I mean, that was my big problem with the Search, when something big happened people either avoided it, or just kinda passed over it. It was wierd that when someone suggested something others just skimmed over and said "Screw what you want, the giant planetary crab thing will fall to me!!!" Not to mention some anticlimactic boss fights (biscuits, really, why ____??)
In Aftermath, I'm looking to make a multi chaptered story, this being the prologue (nothing's really happened so how can it be the aftermath?). I wanted to emphasize character development and good writing. I mean, Gobbo and Mints have it, and I act like I do, but those are usually the most important parts in storytelling. So I won't bitch at anyone for posting, as long as they make distinctive characters and keep the flow going. And make big posts, because you can't do anything with a small one.

I just get lost in the storyline way too quickly, and I think this isn't the first RP I've messed up. "Played an important role in the end?" Well, maybe, but I am sure you guys would have found a more interesting way around that
....At any rate, I'll post in the Aftermath topic only if I feel that I can make a post that's worth something. I am pretty inexperienced at these things, but then again, as Edison said: "I did not fail one-thousand times, I found one-thousand ways how to not make a lightbulb."

I realized that, but you don't destroy bosses whom you'd think were strong with small bread...thingys. I mean, it would pass in ROR if the guy at least choked on it, or it would in the search if you hit a celphie. But it was a serious RP, I mean could you imagine how the Search would end if Falak saw a mouse and freaked out like a cartoon elephant, tripping over Earth and falling into a black hole? Hilariously, but it wasn't the tone of the story which is why I said it. I mean, if someone put up an erotic version of AM, that would just change the whole style, and wierd out some people.

Yeah, story lines do get a little convoluted. That's just what happens when you have a story, not of great length, but that has been written over the span of months.
All the VBs (yeah, I know, we should stop livin' in the past, but it was so cool!) were in a steady stream of write. When it went a day without work, it would be all, "Whoa, what happened? Was Jackdaw on a bender and missed his turn?" Heh. "Turns". That was just great.
Anyhoo, I was thinking about making an IAS that was based on a "chapter" or "page" system. More or less, one continuous span of occurance would occur within every twenty posts, and then a new "chapter" would start after that, so that people didn't need to really be well versed in the first set to know what the hell was going on.
But, then I remembered that it would probably get screwed up anyways. Heck, I don't even remember what I write... . . .
And then, the mightly Falak was faced by a foe like none other.
"You are my food now, bi-yach!" said the mighty Flop Hop as it consumed the tiny serpent. "Boy, he sure was a tiny snack!" The gang, including Mint Man, tho' he was never actually introduced into the story, all laughed cheesily as the credits began to roll.
Actually, that ending would have rocked. I weep now "Turk, you just got schooled by the two whitest chicks in American!"

I only really ended The Search like that, there because I knew if it didn't end there, it would keep on going continuously until MM deleted it as spam.
I shoulda used that ending, though!

It was only under threat of deletion when people were over-posting in it toward the beginning; just because a story sucks does not mean it will get deleted. Look at that precursor to RoR Gobbo made way back when. I am sure only he and Camo remember it now as they were the only adders to it, but it was never deleted -- and it sucked hard!
I shall never be able to understand the logic used by people as to how I delete things. I do it enough. I am vocal enough on the subject, no doubt. You'd think the regulars at least would be able to get a feel for it...
At any rate, Search ain't over. What you did is a VapBabIII ending -- good intentioned means to wrap up a long story that sorta dragged out to no where, but it doesn't finish anything. So, just like VapBabIII, I am going to have to swing in and tie up every loose end left by the story -- all of which came in after its revival.
... that doesn't say much for resurrecting old stories.
I've had that end sittin' around for, like, a week now, too. See, after Falak was killed, I thought the story was going to straighten itself out and get really good again. That Falak was just poison With it out of the picture, the original target of the Akilokipok leader could come back, and all of the posts started looking promising again... and then you ended it.
It had fuel to burn for a long while still, and that is making this finalizing post enormous, moreso than even my sole addition to AtP.

Rook, might I suggest that next time you could delete your last post and then start a new one (you could even copy the contents from the original and paste them on the new one)? Edits don't change the last reply time, so people probably wouldn't notice.
Then again, letting people know, like now, is good enough as well.

Ah, yes. The IAS precursor that was suppose to be the new VB (or RE's VB, either way). If anyone feels like reliving that horror, they can check-check-check it out!
The thing began in the elder's board, but, due to only getting about five additions over the course of weeks (which mainly sucked ), I tested it in the regular board to gauge its response. Sadly, I kept all that had already been written in the Elder's board, which probably was a mistake as it corrupted all the new additions to it, equaling a topic that was about thirty some constantly laming sucks that ended with a utterly terrible attempt at revival: the addition of the king of IACs, Jackdaw!*
Oh, yeah, and, um... something tells me that Search may get some cropping...
* Note: may not be king.

Yea, feeble was just weird and it ended much the way that the brewery did, for a good reason no doubt. I still look back and laugh at it from time to time, for multiple reasons.
I love how no one wants to touch a cold wind I guess I'll make a feeble(pun intended) attempt at reviving it when I have the time.
My side is dead, my beliefs have been forgotten, my youth has left me and my innocence was slaughtered infront my eyes. Why should I care when it is only my life on the line?

EDIT: I just read the Search, whole way through. It is a bit disorienting, and has lots of [OOC][BIC] breaks, but other than that it's sorta readable!

At any rate, why would you even add it to the old post? The reason I was writing the closer was to finish that post with no loose ends -- continuation sucks. Writers can barely continue from the beginning of a topic to the end; why would anyone want to read anything that is a continuation of an old post or just an old post that refuses to end?
The answer: the wouldn't. 'Twould be quite horrible.
Characters... yeah, they are relatively memorable and can transfer from one topic to another. Plots and goals? Hel's no! Try and let a post's poison muddle only one storyline, not multiple.
