You should have some sort of way to find out what range of happiness(technically 'tameness') your Pokemon is at, since you CAN find this out in the game. (More easily in stadium2, but you can even in the GB carts)
How about in the Pokebox?
I seems more like Stadium2 since you can use items while accessing it.

How about no?
There will be no shiny easy numbered byte to display of the current tameness/happiness (for use 01d $(h0013r$). It will be just as it is in the Game Boy game -- you'll have to go to someone to take a look at your Pokemon and tell you directly. 'Course, I need to add the function for gyms to buy such a rater, but I can think of other things for it to do as well... I think.
