Thanks! Only please, don't get all mad because I mess up on codes. I'm only thirteen years old.
1430? Wow... I wonder how much I will get, I mean like c'mon, I haven't even decided what my major will be. Maybe I should follow my older brother (who is 23, btw) and go into bioengineering. Whatever happens, I am NOT going into programming. My brother told me not to, for the following reason:
"Look, the computer industry is losing many jobs. Also, if you work as a programmer, you will have a boss telling you what to program, so basically you will be someone's b*tch. Biology, though..."
Pardon the profanity.

Hmmm... I guess that answers my questions about semi-colons on the other post.... and you don't have to use double () for the double if-then statement? Stupid Webmonkey, always teaching me the long way around everything. I can only imagine how many late night debugging sessions that would've saved me....
Ah, well, you learn something new everday... unless you're sleeping... or not paying attention.
Oh, and LE, this is just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't use 7 X 7 blocks of gym-ed-ness. Make up trails and stuff so it's not just a square... that's just too predictable. Like this:
o o o
oo o oo
oooo o
o o
oo oo oo
oooooo
with "o" being a normal space, and " " being nothing. That's always a lot funner, at least I think. (I sure hope this shows up right whenever it's posted.... either way, you'll know what I mean, right?) Endless Horizon: http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/verdegym

Biomed? No way! That's what Gobbo's majoring in.
Yeah, I'm majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. I've known that the job market is failing hard-core. That's because it was doing good and everyone was flocking to it. Now it is full of all sorts of poorly educated people doing petty tasks. I'm getting a doctorate in it, tho', so I'll be fine. Moreover, I don't even know how much of a real job I'll need. I'm planning on learning some more programming stuff and, while still in college (which I don't pay a dime for thanky to scholarships), I can hopefully start putting out videogames and hopefully earn myself a good spot in game making/graphics. Sure, the pay sucks for that area, but I'm used to a very poor standard of living, so it doesn't bother me one bit. Biomed, on the other hand, is a very rich profession, and no one is going into it even tho' everyone knows that it's going to be the next big thing. Heh, cool thing is they are coming out with this organic computer, and who's still gonna have to program it
Um, but yeah, you don't have to use extra parentheses in if statements if you're using simple comparisons.
if(something && somethingelse)
or
if(something || somethingelse)
but if you do something like
if(something && somethingelse || anotherthing)
if the something and somethingelse are true, the statement passes, or if anotherthing is true, it also passes. You have to use parentheses to group them:
if(something && (somethingelse || anotherthing))
This would pass if something is true and somethingelse or anotherthing is true, which is a timesaving way of saying
I'm probably going to major in Computer Science & Biology. That way, I'll be able to work on the organic computer! Whoopee!! Uhh...nevermind. I still have 5 years to go.
Thank you to ALL of you for giving me advice on my stupidity in JavaScript. Now please give me twelve weeks to start programming. Actually, that's only 24 days, because I only have the weekends. Our school is very strict on homework, especially in high-school classes (ahem Spanish, Geometry, and Earth Science).LieutenantEagle

I've just stumbled upon the secret to sucess. I'm going to ask Mintman about everything possible, mostly JavaScript stuff, copy, paste, and format it into a book, then sell it.
.....
Yeah, I know, not only is that dumb, but it's plagi-... p-l-a-g-i-r-s-m
plagirsm. That's not right...
Stupid words. Wait, did I have a point to this? No, wait, I never really do.Endless Horizon: http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/verdegym

That's plaigarism, my friend. My college dictionary confirms my spelling is correct.
MintMan, I have one question that is important to my walk-around. How do you make the program gray out a function when it is unnecessary? I mean, if you cannot walk east any further, how do you make the program gray out the "east" button? I don't know how to do that.
Here's a guess for trying to block people from going into negative coordinates.
if (x-coordinate < 0)
x_coordinate == 0;
if (y_coordinate < 0)
y_coordinate = 0;
Is that good enough? Or should I use the gray out commands?
EDIT: Help, MintMan!!! I'm stuck! I've tried EVERYTHING!!! The thing doesn't understand "if" statements!!! Here's the exact piece of code:
if (x_location < 0)
{
x_location = 0;
alert('You almost fell off the western edge of the Earth!');
}
It does NOT understand that piece of code. Rather, the moment I load the page, it gives me the alert. WHY!?!?!?!!? I'm about to go crazy. HELP!!!!

MintMan, will be the boss telling people what to program!
LtEagle, that comment about the biological computers, that's actually a good idea, I've heard stuff about using DNA as a processor.

That snippet looks fine, LE. Send me the page so that I can investigate the rest of it. That must be the problem.
As for graying out buttons, I do believe JScript uses the disabled member.
So, let's say you set a BUTTON element with attribute NAME equal to "east" inside the form with attribute NAME equal to "walkaround", you'd use:
walkaround.east.disabled = true;
And to enable it again, just set disabled to false.

Thank you!
Gracias!
Merci beaucoup!
These were all "thank you"s in: English, Spanish, and French. I had to remove the Russian version, as the Cyrillic doesn't show up.
Let me fix my pages so that you will see what's going on. I've played around with the code already...I'll set it to what it was before. The address for the page, for your information, is:
Let me fix up the script, say...tomorrow as soon as I get home from school.LieutenantEagle
