Hey, whats the difference between these 4 languages and does anyone know any background information on em, like who made em up and s***, cause me and a mate are having an arguement about em, he thinks there all the same age, made by the same people and the same thing!

First of all, there is no real programming language called C+. C was developed years ago, and several years later an expansion was made for it called C++. C# is a language Microsoft came out with fairly recently that's supposed to be easier to use than C++ (I don't know, I haven't tried it).

C is the basic, basic thing. Most languages now borrow from it's semi-coloned style (Java, JavaScript, Perl, etc.). Learn it, and you are more or less set.
Of course, most prefer C++. It is like C but with classes and a bit more power. Classes are the biggie, tho', as they let you fully utilize Object Oriented Programming and, well, ease of programability.
However, for your purposes, you would be better off learning Java. C++ really needs Windows programming to get any real graphics in it, and that is more or less another language in its own right (just a collection of classes and functions really, but Java does a lot of that blargle a lot more easily).

Second post of my routine visit, there's not much to say about those... What im about to say has most-likely already been posted. C is basically... the root of it all, C++ is EXTREMELY similar, has same new functions making it easier to use than C. C+ is probably something that some wierdo having no idea what he was talking about told you, C+ is usually used as a joke to play in my school for people who have no clue about programming, or don't really track news on the new languages. C# is a new one, Im in an engineering school and I haven't heard of it for god's sake! Well... I suppose it's yet another advanced form of C, probably similar to C++ as well, with a few new features.
As for C being a weak programming language... well not really, I've seen some decent things made with it, such as the game i mentioned in the other post, astonia. It's a mmorpg, it has decent graphics and is made with C.
By the way, im sorta a Programming novice atm, so... don't take anything I say totally true. It may be, but if it is complicated in any way, you better look into it yourself The insignia of the Apocalypse engraved upon his blade. the day approaches...

Well, C makes a lot of that stuff because of C's connection with Unix. Most MUDs are programmed in C, too. Hey, if you don't have to program with Windows, usually C is all ya need.
Yeah, the "++" is sorta necessary for the C++. The first languages went from A, then B, and finally C. The "++" was supposed to be the increment operator onto C, thus C++.
Sorta a nerd joke, like:

RUN DOS RUN
