Yeah, Avatar's seem like a good idea (and why the Hel are they called Avatars? Avatars are religiously linked heroes if I recall correctly), but, as we all know, I'm lazy.
Sure, it wouldn't take a lot of just download a lot of stock ones, but I hate all things stock, so I'd never do that, and then having people link them usually just leads to more problems, not to mention the loading time of giant images shrunk into a little icon space. Bah!
I'll just make twenty more smileys. How's that for personality?

I think they call them avatars because they're like your "embodiment" in the digital "realm", like the hero avatars are a representative of their God in the physical world, your avatar image is a representation of "you" on the net. (Well, more often a representation of your character, people who upload images of themselves and use them as their avatar really havn't a clue about the net)

Just for your refrence, Mintman, the definition of avatar is "the living embodiment of a thought or an idea." As for their meaning in refrence to the internet, it's probably the same as alot of other internet slang. No one could come up with a good description so they just picked a close word and called it good.

He's also an anally retentive (tight assed) almighty programmer dude, who wouldn't be seen dead, putting aside space on his server, for people to upload their own avatars...

*beats up Ryuu, not for calling him names, but rather for using and as the italicis tags instead of the HTML*
Bad Ryuu! This isn't UBB... although I probably should make something to recognize those fake tags as real tags to prevent such conf00zion.
I dunno about that image thing. It's not so much as I'm against it, but that I would actually have to read up on how to upload files using CGI. I never had to learn that before.
*wonders what his avatar would be*
*thinks of pie*
*does not think his avatar would be pie; just wants some*

Hmpf, yes it's not like it's hard to put in stuff to recognise the psuedo HTML... and I suppose since this site does recognise HTMl, I may as wel flaunt that, and use my own text, face, color and styling...

My site doesn't recognize HTML? The blutty 'el ya talking about?
The forums allow HTML in them so long as you don't specifically choose to disable it.
You crazy Ryuu. Hey, what if in addition to avatars, members could customize the way they wanted their messages to appear as default (like Ryuu's little job up there), or would people get too carried away with that...

*looks at last time something was posted* um camo you took a little too long to reply .
i have an idea u can use to communicate without mailing. why not use a forum type thing.....where u have messages like battle challenges, notices, etc.
it's worth a try since the mail is messed up. i bet this post was a stupid one....well maybe...

Such a thing would work, Camo, and here's how:
You would want to battle and post yourself on the thing.
You would then have to check periodically for receiving a challenge.
You would accept when you get it.
Thing is, it's called the battle board. No one thinks about using it in that way. I mean, battles still go through if you check them. Methinks little have the patience for it.
