MintMan, I have a great idea. Even though your first contradiction will be "I must have full control of RE-related things", listen to me first.

Arena Terrae MUST be StarCraft-ized. The game is SO similar to StarCraft that I just can't stop thinking of it now. I will make the map and the programming myself.

The problem is...again, that contradiction of yours. Guess what? As soon as I'm done, I will send over the map to you. Wait a second...you don't have StarCraft do you? That means you won't be able to edit it. Well then...

I solemnly swear, upon my Reality's End accounts, that I shall willingly follow any order given to me by MintMan, to edit the map to his liking. I shall also write up all of the game's looks, functions, and characters in this Topic.

  Please, MintMan?

Yo Mace you have an account on SC, I know you do. I'll fight you any day, just don't speak publicly about the battle's results.

Dude, did you know that you are spamming by posting these messages?

I would've much rather appreciated discussing this privately in school. But since you asked me...

Enter StarCraft: BroodWar (do NOT go to Original version). Switch to channel "LTEagle". The time? Saturday, 9 AM. Well actually, don't prepare to get killed since I am a mediocre SC player. Now, I have a question to you: what race will you be using? I will be using Protoss.

And MintMan. When will you reply to this? Without your permission, I cannot do anything.

Ah, who spams by keeping the topic going, for starting a topic which will probably get shot down, and for replying on a non-RE tangent which would have undoubtedly been explored? Me, you, and Mace.

Don't call someone on spamming when you're doing it yourself.

Oh wait, I'm spamming too. Ah,the joys of being a hypocrite. Pulling the dust speck out of someone else's eye when you've got a 2x4 in your own. Hey, actually following my own advice is not a virtue of mine. Don't call me on it. *winks*

Don't take any offense to this. I'm just bored out of my flat skull.

I.... really don't see the point of AT-ifying a Star Craft thing. I mean, AT is based on the fact that people make up their own armies; you could just make a cheesy knock-off of it and much more suitably apply it to Star Craft. The main thing about Arena Terrae is that it matches as much as possible the old Lego-and-dice game my brothers and I played. Star Crafting it would rid of the individualization of special attacks and dice rolls, making just, well, a make-your-own-soldiers game.

AT has no defined plot or purpose, so why would you want to use it to make a specific version of a Star Craft game? Makes no sense to me....

Mace Windu, you might be my friend, but I must say this to you: SHUT UP.

I would have gladly explained how I've laid everything out, had it not been for the fact that no one here except Mace Windu plays StarCraft. Okay, fine. I'll explain. Mace Windu can translate.

I have two plans of action.

#1. Everyone starts out by choosing 5 golems, which will have pre-defined HP, Energy (if applicable), and spells. Once everyone is ready, all players get 200 Minerals, and the view is centered to an area with Engineering Bays, Forges, and Evolution Chambers. You can then use your 200 minerals to upgrade either attack or armor, at a price of 10 Minerals apiece. An interesting element of strategy will be whether attack or armor should be upgraded, as well as for which race - if you have two Terran people, and upgrade attack, they will both get boosts in attack, but if you have a Terran and a Zerg, then you have to upgrade Terran attack and Zerg attack. From there on, you get a base and start fighting other people.

#2. Everyone starts out with five Civilians and 30 Vespene Gas. Upon walking onto the Upgrade beacon, the Civilian is teleported to an area where they choose what "weapon" they get. Upon choosing, the Civilian dies, and in its place appears a character of the appropriate weapon. You also lose an appropriate amount of "points" (Vespene Gas). List:

  Golem w/Dagger (1 pt): Zealot
  Golem w/Sword (2): Fenix [Zealot]
  Golem w/Bow (3): Hydralisk
  Golem w/Laser Gun (4): Dragoon
Golem w/Plasma Cannon (7): Fenix [Dragoon]
...as well as some of my own additions...
  Golem w/Musket (5): Marine
  Golem w/Sniper Rifle (6): Ghost
  Golem w/Flamethrower (5): Firebat
  Golem w/Magic Staff (8): Tassadar

After that, attack & armor might be upgraded...
  ----------
These are my two plans. You see...MintMan is too worried about the look of his game. He is afraid that it will ruin it all, because there's no "customization". Here's something for MintMan to know.

I once played an SC map called "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". You know that game, right (best game for N64 after Paper Mario). Well, guess what? Link could NOT change weapons from sword to slingshot to Deku Stick. There was no fancy Z-targeting. And yet it was still cool! You should NOT be worried that the SC version is not like the RE version.

Some questions that you may ask:
  -------------------------------
What's the point of making this?
To promote the popularity of Arena Terrae to a larger audience.
Why would you advertise an unfinished product?
A StarCraft map takes a long time to program. By the time I am done, AT will be a finished product.
What if your map does not work? What if it crashes?
Well, if my map does not work, that is sure to bring disaster to AT's popularity. However, I can and WILL test my map with friends before putting it out in public.
How do you play it with friends only?
It's called 'game password'. People who do not know the password do not enter.

Are all of your questions answered?

Um, I don't think you understand.

Look at that game: its not that it isn't like Arena Terra. It is simply that it has absolutely nothing to do with it. In the Link game you spoke of, some elements were in there that were related to link. Look at what you're proposing: civilians, always stock golems, spells, minerals? This stuff sounds more suitable for a game that isn't AT.

It is such a stretch. Realize that you are trying to say "Hey, let's make a game based on a game that is baseless." Where's the base? The only thing AT would share in common with this game you propose is the name. It wouldn't boost the popularity because no elements or themes would remain constant between the two.

No, there will be no SC AT. There will never be one. I don't understand why you would listen to me. You could just as easily call it something else with the same idea that you propose and make it fit a thousand times better.

Fine, fine. Although there WERE no common elements in the Link thing. Besides, the Civilians aren't going to be NAMED Civilians! Duh? Oh well, if you don't want it, then...hey, that's actually good.

Now, a suggestion for AT. You should have an Attack-Move command, *ahem* similar to the one in StarCraft. The move would do the following action:

Your golem moves towards the location specified. HOWEVER, if there is an enemy, the golem immediately enters battle. Upon defeating the enemy, the golem continues to move in the given direction.

Such a move would be useful because you see, so many times have I had the frustrating moments when I click "Attack" and then the program says "There is nothing to attack here" because by the time I refresh, the enemy moved. With an attack-move, the golem would enter battle if an enemy is in, say, a 4x4 space. Unless your enemy has huge speed, your golem would still enter battle.

Hello, MintMan? Are you getting what I'm talking to you about? Hello? *notices MintMan asleep*

Now let me tell you something. AT is a Perl game that only exists on page views. Thus, all the time when your golems are moving do not exist. They are only represented by position. Neither your golem nor the system knows what the Hel it is doing in between one of the users downloading a page. Everything must be figured at the time of action.

What I want to do is make an alternate control panel in which you can type in what you want your golem to do, especially toward what to direct an action. For example, "attack jigsaw" or "pickup halberd". That is very easy to implement as it does not require some impossible thing needing of a constant feed of information.

Remember: they're golems. They thrive on stupidity. That is one of the reasons I liked the golem idea so much; it really was that stupid.

Okay, forget AT:SC entirely. Announcing the beginning of "Arena Survivius", my new SC UMS creation!

Hmm...very stupid golems, aren't they? So no wonder Elgestrarr kept walking east instead of west...hmm... BTW, remember when my old account was keeled? My new account has the children of the former party.

  Elgestrarr son of Elrastar
  Garramorn son of Garrdorn
  Hydrogal daughter of Hydrollad
MultiDead came back from the dead a 412nd time.

"Arena Survivus?" Do you realize how little sense that name makes, not to mention that it is a clear knock-off of Arena Terrae? I could get you for copyright infringement so much! And is "Survivus" even a Latin word? It looks made-up, but if it isn't, your genders are mixed up. The "us" is a masculine adjective ending and Arena's first declinsion "a" is feminine. Even overlooking those flaws, "Surviving Sand" is hardly a name on any plane of existance.

When I said an idea similar, I didn't mean knock-off similar. You really need to work of your derivation skills.

  Fine...fine...

  How about "Stadiumus Survivius"?

Hey MM, remember one thing in SC: the more grammatically incorrect the name, the more people it attracts. Besides 99% of people on B.net don't know how to spell...I mean, come on, they spell Turret Defense "turat defans". Ma foi!
