Lets see...I go to a college at 14 for engineering/programming and that type of stuff and it is literally for GENIOUS people.
  Engineering class
Teacher: Hello class, tell me how to translate 1011011010 into a decimal number?

  *students make puzzled face*

It's 218!!! (rough estimate by just looking)

Now, do I need to know this Binary code to actually make games and use C++? it's starting to give me a headache....

  Homework

coming home after a hard day of school to a GIANT backpack full of books which i must do 1-50 isn't exactly fun either....

Oops i think i vented a lil too much........................ um...
Well...feel free to drive everyone insane in this post with complaints about school and brutal threats to teachers
i bet this post was a stupid one....well maybe...

Unless you start getting real nasty and do other than say how tough you have it, you can never vent to much. I would know. I don't vent, I hate the teachers. More on subject, I'm only in 8th grade. I switched from alto saxophone to tenor saxphone a couple of weeks ago. I've been carring instruments to and from school seemingly every other day. The tenor weighs a fudge of alot more than the alto. I put it on the scale and it is approximately 10 pounds more than the alto weighing in at 25 pounds! Add that to a backpack with 2 2-3 inch thick textbooks and before you know it I'll be looking like a hunchback.
50 problems? Depending on the problems that isn't to bad. Last night I had 34 problems and it didn't take me that long at all. Some night I only get 20 problems, but it takes me 3 times as long, no exageration. My math teacher always gives me messed up assingments. Monday was...*pulls out the agenda book that she is forced to write in* that one wasn't so bad so I'll say Fridays. I had #13-18; #49-80 columns 1 and 2 and #91. we spent all of Monday checking it and still didn't finish. See? It could be plenty worse.
Science I've had at least 3 test and 2 essays already! We do a chapter a week and nobody, not even me, know what is going on. I'm usually a very dependable student, so that says alot. *notices usually* What I mean is that my teacher makes everything so...confussing that she doesn't even always know what we are doing! For real! That is just pathetic.
Health, oh man. My teacher has the most, the most hateable accent that I'd sometimes like to just yell at her to shut up. Example: When she does attendance she never fails to call me Lauren dubya instead of W. What is so difficult about that? She goes on and on about the most simple things that don't even need explaining at all. All she does is repeat herself. She is constantly reitterating. She goes on and on like the energizer bunny. Get my point? *relises how pathetic her attemp at reitterating was* I'm not very good at overly repeating myself.
This isn't directly acedemic related, but I am starting to hate my name. I'm one of two Laurens in my class and they are always calling the other one. Whenever I hear my name I look up even though they aren't talking to me. What else am I supposed to do? She has a nickname too. Why don't they just call her by it? That would be to dimple, wouldn't it? Also, there are to guys in my class that keep calling me by my last name. One isn't so bad about it, but the other I'd like to wring out his neck. For MM and MG that is the not nice short dude that is not at a nice height(inside thing). I just say go away Jones and he just follows me and tells me that I should dye my hair black. He has been telling me to dye my hair black ever since I dressed all in black one day. That is so not like me because I always dress in colors that are really bright. He also say that I should spike my hair, but I don't think 2 foot long spikes would really last long.
I hope that you have enjoyed my life at school. It has been a pleasure to describing my oh so lovely ways in which school is ruining my life. Have a nice day, but only if you want to.
Edit:Uhh...that is a fudge of alot longer than I meant to make it...it might even be longer than that one post I read that MM made forever ago...probably not though... I'm just making it longer now. What gives me the feeling that MM is going to delete this post, or at least half of it?
If there is something wrong, it's probably my fault.

Oy yeah, MSanis? I'm actually in college (thanks to Ohio's failing school system), and my programming class is something I shouldn't have been in three years ago. But guess what? They still won't let me move on! The freakin' test out of the class is held twice a year -- which I have already missed the dead-line to sign-up for since they never tell anyone blutty anything!

At any rate, you're still learning stuff. Although binary numbers are something I already know, I think that is the class I am supposed to be in right now.

So that's the question: which is better? To be challenged or to be bored out of your skull? I'd say challenged because you can actually do something about that. When you're bored, you're just screwed.

Hey, I don't know what is better, and I've experienced both! In elementary, it seems like forever since then, yet it wasn't really that long ago, I was bored into my mind. I know that doesn't sound right, but I learned to drift off so far into thought in math that I was practically asleep. I think once I did actually fall asleep during math, but I wouldn't know since I was so tired. We I started middle school everything was hecktic. With lockers for the first time(mine always needed kicking), classrooms on every side of the school, and a different schedule everyday I was so lost. My teachers would change the schedule every month, at least, and it was an even odd schedule, meaning one schedule for even days and one for odd ones.
I had an ok schedule for the last month. The only screwy thing about that one was that my class was split for science and math half of the time and the other half we didn't go by the schedule. Other than worring about being tardy because you brought the wrong books for the wrong class in the wrong room, this school year has been pretty dull. In science I was the only person that did all of their homework and she got all upset. I got to do the experiment with somebody who finished it before class started and they had to listen to her try to explain different types of air pollution while not getting to far off topic. In health we wasted most of the time making muffins, half of which we had to toss because nobody was eating them. Each of the 7 groups made 12 muffins for crying out loud! What a waste? We haven't done anything worth while in school this year. I've been so bored that I've done homework for other classes and drawn anime characters. My science teacher looked right at it and didn't say anything at all. To sum things up I'll say that I'm still being challenged, but drop dead bored as well.
Today wasn't as bad as others though. When I threatened to smack billy over the head with a 2 inch thick text book the teacher was standing behind me. Normally that is not a good thing. Not this time though. Mr.C told me to whack him good and he wouldn't tell anybody. Take that Billy! I think I will hurt him tomorrow. *Happy*
If there is something wrong, it's probably my fault.

Don't blame ya, Camo. I've been skimming mostly to. Not enough importance, too much anecdote. The gyst serves fine enough.

Fun stuff? Can't you stay at Reality's End to do that?.... oh, I see your point.

Know what I'm doing this weekend? Warning! Piddle Banter Ahead. I'm going over to my friends dorm and wasting most of the day there. Why? Because his roomie is gonna be out of town this weekend, so he'll have the place to himself. Sure, I have an apartment, but its just the fact that we can that we shall. Also, he's never stayed much in his dorm before. He used to have this one friend whose apartment he'd stay at all the time (since dorms suck). He had a falling out, tho', since this friend got some new friends that were hard-core preps. She sorta has this cycle of picking up stupid friends, saying their cool, and then months later saying that they suck once more. He's tired of it, so he's just leaving the whole mess. It couldn't have happened at a better time, either since Gobbo and I -- already on shakey ground with her due to gross incompetence, unrefined humorous wit, and a lack of knowledge of what Atari is -- want nothing to do with her since she made some unspeakable evil. This evil?
Well, we were watching Buffy reruns and eating dinner -- a normal weekend practice for us -- when she needed to use our printer. While over there, she looked at the screen and saw Alyson Hannigan in all of her Willow-tastic glory. Then, she had the audacity to say "That chick is ugly," completely unprovoked.
I told her to leave right then and there, not thinking that she knew of the severity of what I said. How could anyone hate that chicK? Look at her! Omni-kawaii to the tenth power! Anywho, after being bitterly disgusted for a while, we decided to never have contact with her again, including not answering the door if she knocks and hanging up immediately if she calls.

Um, so... what was I saying? Oh yeah, Willow's hot.

  Second!

Anyhoo, getting back to topic: I kill you, M sanis! You and your genius-nurturing surroundings! Seriously, I'd kill to get some recognition for my abilities, but me and Ks have just been brushed along through the school system like dirt. "You play sports?" "No." "Oh, then you're worthless. Crawl in a hole and don't come out." ... oh wait, that's my home life...

Gah, I used to be smart. *reminisces about the good old days* Hell, I'm not ranked 65 out of 341 students for nothing! *mutters to self* I guess being aloof and out of touch with shallow, social matters (fashion, makeup, pop culture, other mess) coupled with a rather low self-opinion made me the perfect target for the wolves.

All the stress of dealing with stupid, jealous people and the need to express myself in some outlet of creativity led me down a path somewhat like this:

7th Grade: Near nervous breakdown from school heck.
8th Grade: Also complete heck but found the art of fanfiction... later, this spawns the creation of my first mini-novel (which I proceed to trash for reasons I will not share).
9th Grade: Serious writing, this pretty much turns into my purpose for existance... I begin to explore more right-minded ways of thinking, starting to become more spontaneous.
10th Grade-Present (12th): It shouldn't come as a shock that I've lost all my intelligence, what little there seems to have been. I have little time to read anymore (I used to love reading...) and my classes really don't challenge me (except for making me want to break out the protest signs and call for reform).

I guess I let perfect opportunities and budding potential slip through my fingers and die. But hey, that's fate for you when you don't know how to take charge of it. I'm content with how things have turned out, even though I pale compared with the rest of you in the intelligence/common sense factor. *sighs*

But on some other world, in some other parallel reality, I didn't become a writer, and I focused all my energies into an intellectual outlet, and I'm your equal. But I'm not there, and frankly, I like my introspective, abstract, right-minded aspects. It suits my lifestyle, since I'm not looking for wealth and workplace prestige in the long run.

I'm looking down another road. The road that sprang up through the wilds of myth and folklore, the road that Tolkien and other masters paved. In the long run, you'll find me pursing greatness there... I've lost myself to the love of myth and magic, and frankly, I hope to be able to immerse myself in the creation of my own worlds someday. On paper of course.

The rest of you computer geniuses can make games off my work if you ever feel so inclined.

To Camo: Mr.C's rule and you know it!
To MM: You do relise that there are girls in this forum, right? Excuse me, but I don't see the point of very pants that go so low that...yah...and shirts that low?! Do they not have any sense of morality?
To Evenfall: I also used to be smart, love to read and write, and stuff like that. I know that I'm a totally stupid looser, but I'm ok with that. Just because I'm in an advanced class and am doing work that is a grade ahead of me doesn't mean I'm smart. Sure I get good grades and all, and I even understand all of that information that is so confussing that nobody will ever use, but I'm dumb. I can catch onto stuff that nobody else in my class can, yet there are so many things that I don't know that I should. I don't talk much because nobody listens and people think that I'm anti-social because of it. It's not like I don't answer when somebody is talking to me. Sometimes I even like talking to guys better. I don't know why. I'm a phreek and that is all there is to it.
If there is something wrong, it's probably my fault.

  Here's how I stack up.
Geometry - I know like half of it, if not more. I hate the two-column proofs, they're killing me.
Spanish I - This class is FUN! We have quizzes every other day though.
  English 8 - Boring.
P.E. - Hey, my brain gets a break for a change!
Earth Science - Quoting my teacher: "Today, you draw rocks. Tomorrow, you draw rocks. Monday, you draw rocks. Tuesday, you draw rocks. Wednesday, we have a test."
Social Studies 8 - Ah...some old senator reincarnated.

And the funnest class is...SPANISH! Then PE.

Man, I've got a lot to respond to. This is what I get for waiting this long before responding to the forums.

I highly doubt you're anti-social, SSS. Anti-social actually means your good in social situations -- those people are typically charming. However, they have to conscienceness nor any remorse for their actions, so they typically like to kill stuff You're just an unsociable person, much like most people at this forum. Why else would one be at an on-line forum?
And here's a neat little tid-bit for you all: not smart? It doesn't matter! Guess where intelligence will get you? Absolutely nowhere! I know. Things today care more for you wasting an hour a week on the year book staff than they do a thirty-plus on the ACTs. Sound pathetic? It is. And true, unfortunately. While you're still in high school, try running off with your writing and other artistic talents. I think there is a place called XLibris.com (there might be a hyphen in there) that will publish your books for you. I've only seen them advertised, but if you hit eighteen (you might have to be that age for legal reasons) I'd suggest trying to hit it big with some initiative before you have to set off to college, if you do, that is. I was always supposed to program a great video game before I got out of high school but got too distracted with this site to do it. I think it turned out for the better, tho'. At any rate, those half-intelligent over-popular extra-cirricular A-holes only get the goods in life up until they enter college. Once there, they crash and burn. The truly inventive and intelligent reap the benefits of the world from that point on, so shine on, you crazy diamonds!

What's that about a low self-opinion? I shall say this now, and heed my advice: good for you. Sounds odd, eh? Everyone today says you should feel good about yourself! Why? Should we be blind monkey's that like ourselves for no good reason? Hel no! Narcissism is at an all-time high in the populus nowadays, and there is no apparent reason for it (id est no reason people should feel they are better than the previous bunch). This is what you get for living in an age that peoples in acting without reason.
At any rate, hating yourself will get you far. If you ever like yourself, they you know somethings wrong -- everyone should have more to do and improve.

And SSS, me lack morality? You think that just because of that Willow fan site? Oh come on! If I had no morality, I could be into some stuff that really has no morality. As far as the world today goes, Hannigan's pretty tame, especially in Buffy in which she's usually very covered up. I think they only realized recently that this normally nerdy and quiet character could be used in such a way. And what's the point of a skirt and shirt so low? I thought that was the point
Anyway, I'm guessing you didn't look at the site too much, 'cause there is some stuff there that you'd probably really not be fond of, like Gobbo and I's current desktop wall paper.

Warning! The preceding link leads to an image that really wussy people mind find offensive for some reason, even tho' it is quite covered up.... well, covered at least. It should not have been viewed by young children or at least those parented by those that believe everything is actually the devil in disguise.

Man, I couldn't resist doing that. I hope I don't get anyone in trouble... yes I do.

Nurtz, looks like I made this post another long one.... oh well.

Hmm... school hasn't been a problem for me the past week... know why?
  ~Hurricane Warning~
Since half the people cleared out of town (including Lugiatrainer) I've been able to sleep all day and watch anime all night ^_^

When I am in school, it's pretty pointless because they care more about their "school spirit" than actually teaching anything... I just read the textbook and absorb what I need ^_^

People at school call me a "genius".
When they do, I think to myself [[No, I'm average. It must be that you're an idiot...]] and then I feel sorry for the victims of this godawful school district...

Yeah, Ash, it is a problem. Thing is, since most unbearably long posts are made in the Classics forum, you can assume that nothing of any import is said in them and you can skim, weed, or just ignore if so you wish. It can't be that important, right?

The Arena Terrae post I made is VERY important, though long!! I need immediate help with AT before I get slaughtered like Mace Windu!

Ummm...back to the topic. Geometry doesn't suck, it's just the 2-column proofs.

I don't know...I don't feel like majoring in any topic. Computer Science & Biology...hmm, try mixing up some DNA structure for ASCII codes! That will be a sad story.

Someone from my college U of T did a dual major in Bio and Computer, so I guess you could, too. That'd really be handy for those organic computers, too.
Or you could be the programmer for the wierd new probes they have that can perform open heart surgery. Yeah, they got some wack stuff out now.
