Oh ... dear... it ... would seem... that Vinny... D has ... been killed... I do... not know ... why. *throws away his you-ffx-fiend-stabbin'-knife*

Seriously tho, Ixion is a lightning horse? Good ol' FF always screwing up what's what. Now, reaching deep into my mythological lore of the Romans, Ixion should be a dude that tried to hit on Hera that was straped to a flaming wheel and doomed to roll across the sky for eternity.

You're not the only one with FFX. Well, technically, it's not mine, but it's in the same house as me, so I get to play it whenever I want. The game is pretty short as far as I know, and the turn-based battle system is actually pretty cool. You can push L1 (I think) to switch characters out, so it makes it strategic. There's a certain type of monster that each character is good against. There are small, agile, wolf-like creatures called Fangs, I think, that the main character kills (because his accuracy is good), then the huge, big guys are killed by Auron, who has a huge sword that kills pretty much everything. And it pretty much goes like that for the most part.

Hmm... sounds pretty easy, this charicter thing, that lets you use like 6 guys at once right? I believe I played a battling game like that and it was good, but not too hard :(.
So what you mean by this monster sh*t? You got certain classes? Can I still fight big flowers?

Well, it's not as easy as it seems really. I generally keep out the main fighters in boss battles, and switch out with the others for a few magic spells occasionally. But, they can only switch on their turn, and if they're dead, they can't switch, so it makes it a bit more difficult.

As for the monsters, each monster's style is a bit different, and each of your characters is best against a certain kind, like this:
Tidus (Main Character, good against small nimble things): Kills pretty much what's left over after the stronger people kill everything else.
Wakka (Blitzball Player, only one with long range attack): Kills things that are flying that no one else can reach
Lulu (Black Mage): Kills monsters with a physical attack resistance, or specific weakness to a certain kind of magic
Auron (Fighter, kills things): Defeats monsters with high defense
Kimahri (Fighter, also): Pretty much the same as Auron, as far as I can figure out
Yuna (Summoner): Summons a monster to kill stuff occasionally

Its good that they didn't over use the GFs, I'm guessing that summon one is the guy who gets the GF's cause back in FF7 they called it summon materia.
Hmmm... I think they should have kept the way magic works from FF7 with all the materia, it was sweet.

Hey, this armoured chocobo sh*t, how good is that?

Um, Camo, you don't, ya know, actually play Final Fantasies, but I would think you would play them enough to know they change the freakin' systems in every game! Moreover than that, Materia really only works with the FFVII plot seeing as how earth's spirit doesn't materialize like that in the other FFs.

Also, they aren't called freakin' GFs. In one game they were called that. They are summoning spells. That is the way it has been since they were bloody invented (earliest I remember them was in FFII [IV], but they could have had a chance to be in II or III [Jpn], but I know they weren't in I).

I have finished FF1, FF3, FFA, FF7 played half of 8 and played a little of 9, but in FF3, FF1, and FFA there were no Summoning stuff.

Wait... did you play 3, japan, or 3, american, or 3, Australian (Whatever that might be). Wait... to make it simpler, was it on NES or SNES... yeah that makes sense....

And just so you know, they're called Aeons in FFX, not that it means anything.

FF Adventure isn't even a Final Fantasy. It was actually Legend of the Holy Sword, but for suing reasons, they had to change the name to release it into other countries (the game is actually part of the Secret of Mana series).
I'm pretty sure he's talking about III/VI since only Japan saw the true number III. And for playing so many Final Fantasies, Camo, you sure do demonstrate a lot of knowledge to be wanted.
Also, III had Espers which were kinda the equivilent of Summoning Monsters, just used in a different way.

Well it must mean SOMETHING - GF's (short for Guardian Force) was basicly the spirit of a (usually dead) creature that binds with it's user and acts to boost their strengths, give them abilities, and protect them - Summoning materia was called that because it was able to summon incarnations of it's representative creature, and the materia itself was refered to as that because thats the name they used to decribe the crystalised mako (Materia) hence they didn't call it something like "summon lump-of-shiny-crap".

So there MUST be a reason for calling it an aeon (soemthing I wouldn't mind hearing a explanation of)... damn I can be annoying eh?

Well I played them before I came to RE and back then I used the most evil of evil things in Mintmans world, yes roms (do not worry that was like 3 years ago) After I was band from RE I think the second time I destroyed all my emus/roms but FF1 Was really weird like your charicters would be recruited at a place and if they died 3 times, well you do not see them again. FF3 was insane, it had past, present and future timezones, it was pretty easy and was the second one I finished (after FF7) but there was no summoning magic. and FFA (or legendary sword or whatever) I thought was one of the coolest FF games I had played, but I didn't get to finish it cause there was a glitch in the game and one room after destroying all enemies does not open up a new room. But I don't think it would be named after a sword, I mean, the best weapon I ever had was one b*tchen Flail!

Saying that cr@p about roms was ok, wasn't it, well I was asked so I answered in the best way I could :(

Wow, that's the first time I've ever been quoted. It's like people are actually listening to me.... creepy...

Anyways, I don't really know why they're called Aeons. Just as I got far into the game, my evil brother deleted my save (He was jealous because I was farther than him, sort of), and I stopped playing it for awhile. Wait, they were called Eidolons in 9 for no apparent reason....

As for Camo, I think he is playing 3 as it was in Japan. If he got it from a ROM, it could've been that one. I've looked at FAQs for both 2 and 3 Japan (I was curious as to what they were like), and I've read that there are ROMs available for it, but I've never actually seen one before.

And also, the best weapon you got was the Flail in FFA? I had that game, but I gave up whenever I got to the Oasis Cave (Or was it Medusa's Cave... can't remember)

And (God! I keep going, don't I?) I'm not sure, but I think they just called it Final Fantasy Adventure because the only RPG-style games that Square get get to sell outside of Japan were the FFs. Or maybe that was Final Fantasy Legend.... Crap... I forget... or maybe I didn't know in the first place....

Final Fantasy Adventure (or Legend of the Holy Sword, yes that is it's Japanese name -- Seiken Densentsu or something of the such) was not an RPG. It was made to leech off of Link-popularity. It was made to be a rip-off, but they named the American version after Final Fantasy since it was one of their best selling titles over here.

ROMs are evil. End of story. Only once have I heard a convincing story as to why someone should use an emulator, and that was an isolated case ("ROMs are unnessesary since the games quite specifically state that back-ups are unneeded and protected by warranty and hence illegal," I said. "Yes, but that doesn't protect against an annoying ten-year-old neighbor coming into my house and breaking my SNES," he said. "Hmmmm...."). When I speak of III, I shall be speaking of the only III we have ever known (I tend to use the American numbering system since it shows I actually know what I'm talking about because I played them before their re-releases). Quite honestly, I don't know anything about the Japanese II or III. With the way things are going, they'll release them over here soon enough.
And FF Legend was the naming convention of some other now-popular-and-rightfully-named series. I can never remember if it is the SaGa series or one of those other ones.... I think it has an "S" in its names....

o yea......i think i had that game b4 you told me that all roms no matter the circumstances were illegal....turns up u were right they were (i actually found a whole page on nintendo.com stating that..)

i admit it was a nice game...but absolutely nothing like a final fantasy game...i never got to finish it...maybe someplace like funcoland has it...

of course writer77 i have no idea how ya got the japenese title for it...u must've looked it up i guess...or you could have the rom, if u did would delete it....punishements are cruel.....like even jail.

Trust me, I wouldn't use a ROM. I'm not as heavily against them as Mintman is, but I still wouldn't use them. (Even if I wanted to, every time I try to download something this piece o' crap computer breaks for a few weeks until we completely reinstall the computer)

The way I know about them is I looked all of them up at a FAQ site, just to see what all the Final Fantasies I never got to play were like.

Mintman: I'm not too sure about II and III coming out over here..... unless it's another PS remake, like IV, V, and VI. They have I and I think II out in Japan, but it's on the Wonderswan, a system which I don't believe will be coming out over here. And (If my sources are correct) Square had already asked Nintendo if it could make games for the GBA, but Nintendo refused, as Square had a "lack of support for the GameCube"

What are you talking about? Wonderswans been out here for a long time. It just doesn't get much hype. Now, the Color version is a different story. I'm not quite sure if that has made it's way to the States yet...

But at any rate, FF's explosive popularity will require Squaresoft to eventually release any previously un-American FF as a way to rake in some easy cash.

nope not here....too bad it doesn't look that bad....in graphics department anyway....i noticed from screenshots it has alot of anime emphasis on it too.....and i happen to be an anime fan.....to a certain extent though, like im not gonna but a toy for it or a bookbag...well i better not change subject anymore than it was already changed. Anyway it looks like a decent handheld......but i guess since it's competing with Nintendo's GBA it doesn't stand a chance.

as for the new ff it looks good...but what i don't get about the battle system is....why would their partners just sit there while their friends are getting the s**t beat out of them.....it just doesn't make sense....at least the game crono trigger had a reason for that(the reason being only 4 people can go through a time gate at once.) im mean really think some monkey was beating the crap out of your friend would u sit there and laugh yea....oops i mean no you would help him.hmm im getting no where with this aren't I?

well i can't think of more crap to babble on about so i guess i'll stop........o that monkey looks mean what ya go there monkey? "monkey shows shotgun and has a twisted smile" o crap!!!! run!!! evil monkey on the loose, RUN!!!
i bet this post was a stupid one....well maybe...

  The hell?
nintendo sound a bit f_cked up at the moment.
I mean Sega is making games for the GBA and all they did for the GC is make some g@y @ss monkey ball game (its actually goo - i think?) and there bringing a version of PSO to it which is 4 player on the one machine (Now thats somthing that'll get you going!) oh another thing probobly no one will give a jerry signfield about is that PSOver2 was not actually a sequal to PSO, it apparently was just an upgraded version and an actuall sequal is being thought about! Hopefully this time they will give you a bigger chunk of story and mabe even your own party?

I believe Sega is also making Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, or something like that. And who says Super Monkey Ball is a bad game? Okay, I've never actually played it, but I've heard that it was a good game.
