No, I meant what I said - you insinuated that you trusted people off the internet.

I agree with your internet-views. I just carry them over into real life as well. Or maybe that's just paranoia...

A touch of paranoia isn't a bad thing. Keeps you on your toes. Big Smile Just as long as you aren't wearing tin foil helmets and believing things you read in The Inquirer.

Well, the forums do seem to be doing better. Yup. With my return the forums have begun to recover from this drought. Now, if we could just track down Camo... Or Crazy Mai. That'd make things interesting. Maybe she's watching us right now... Oh no! The paranoia is contagious!

Well, this thread has gone way off its intended course...

And is thus, keeping afloat with activity. It is my experience in foruming that, unless some sort of heavy debate (which unfortuanetly usually means flame-war or slap-fight or some other pathetic, hyphenated activity) occurs, people lose interest in any given topic fairly quickly. Which is no big surprise to anyone who knows people. So off-topicness actually saves the thread more often than not. And as long as it is worthwhile discussion and develops naturally from the course of the conversation why not? How many real conversations have you been in that stick to a single topic only?

You may have noticed by now that I like to analyze things. If you do to, you may be interested in the above paragraph. If you don't, well this is probably all you read of the above post. Thank you for your time.

Off-topicness saves posts as much as giant blue elephants wearing pants and toupees. Pants is a French word for "leg holsters." Once, before I was born or conceived, I shot myself in my non-existing foot. There was no blood everywhere!

Oh, wait, you said off-topicness, not blatant incompetence Shifty Eyes * plants a virtual nose tree *

Yeah, two topics contains all activity is far from a good thing. If either one of these topics dies, half of the activity dies with it. Plus, it is mostly the same two or three people going back-and-forth. It is obvious that, in order to increase productivity, these individuals must be clones. They shall heavily repeat their original self, but there will be so much activity, that everyone will say "Wow, RE Quest, er, RE Forums rule and are not an entirely crappy undertaking!"

  * ensue the crappy cloning debate in which one half of the patrons argue for it in order to have the perfect mate, and the other half operates entirely on the gag reflex * Dag-nabbit!

What I find most hilarious is that all this spittin' around comes on the eve of a major deserting point, Thanksgiving. Additionally, it is also a major desserting point Lick

The recent activity is probably because of the Turkey Day break. We're just sitting around gettin' drunk off the turkey fumes.

All this activity is making me nostalgic...

What we really need is another big argument or, failing that, another debate (for lack of a word which Mintman likes) about the existence of God. There hasn't been anything close to that in far too long. While discussing the pros and cons of various video game consoles is informative, the fact that everybody seems to agree that the Xbox sucks, the PS3 is pitiful and the Wii is second only to God makes the topic a bit dull. So, who's up for a friendly (or otherwise) discussion about politics, religion, philosophy or anything else you can think of?

Wii is second to God, and therefore, He exists.

  Welp, that was easy!

Besides, I already referenced arguments in this thread (methinks). I love 'em: debates, arguments, ramblings, what-have-you. Problem is, I hate them here. I used to love 'em back when we had Ryuujin (debates: his only use) and all of the intelligent RElders, but most of the newbies use the standard hippy non-arguments of I-say-it-because-I-was-told-to-say-it logic. Bah, feh, and resentment!

In the last argument we had here, someone said that the Bible could not be used as any sort of moral code because there is no proof that it is the word of God... oooookay.... so what was this argument about, you may ask? Doesn't matter -- no one brought up the Bible. Until he did. Don't know why, either.
Yeah... until there is proof that intelligent people go to RE and actually post, no "debates," which are actually "repeat the same crap we said in the initial post, but this time is more for some reason." Oy veh...

While the use of video games to establish the existence of God does make a very persuasive argument, I'll have to admit I'm not quite convinced. Also, if that last argument you referred to was the one in "How is BlueCladVagrant," the was only one reference to the bible and that by you.

The problem with the arguments on this site (judging by the two which I've seen) is that they tend to be very one sided. For example, in an argument about the logic in believing in a creator, if almost everybody tends towards Christian belief the ideas put forward will be similar and will therefore not take long to become repetitive. Referring to the "How is BlueCladVagrant" argument, there is also the problem of people changing it from a hypothetical argument into a scientific one which tends to confuse people such as myself. While knowledge of thermodynamics is great, dropping in a "well, the second law of thermodynamics says that I win," more or less kills the argument.

I also think that you're getting mixed up between intelligence and education. Everything I've seen suggests that the majority of people at RE are quite intelligent, the problem is that they don't have a great deal of knowledge on these subjects which you seem to love. If you find a topic which everybody can argue without requiring outside knowledge I think that you'll see that you've underestimated the people of RE.

"How is BlueCladVagrant?" The Hel? * refreshes memory * Does that even qualify as a debate? Not in my book it don't. I was referring to, y'know, an actual argument that took place on this site. That was more of a lot of references to interesting tid-bits.

There is no arguing that can be done about God or a creator diety, not any more. Any possible views have long since been put out there; anything else is what I would like to call "stoner logic" and would simply be wondering if existence is all the dream of a dog. Far smarter people have spent far more time on the subject and have it in nice, small, digestible quantities ready for consumption.
Pretty much, that topic was just a lot of bringing up said logical tasties whenever someone didn't know their entire line of thought was already thought of and scrutinized quite throroughly already. Blutty 'el, man, I think you could type in "God" in Wikipedia and get everything you need, which is really sayin' something on just how common this knowledge is nowadays since Wiki typically has crap!

If it were an argument, there would be a lot of yelling. That's when things are good Evil Grin Only when there is something new to contribute or a view that is unbelievably flawed are debates debates.

Actually, I argued that the X-Box 360 would win in US sales, due to its online service and potential to tap into PC games (like say, World of Warcraft). It's just that everyone else here ignored me...

In all seriousness, yeah, that was basically an example of railroading. Stuff was said, less was said to one side, it mostly got overpowered. The underpowered forcing driving the X-Box front just kinda got buried by the aWIIsomeness of the big N. But that shouldn't be discussed here with the appropriate topic already existing.

Now, then, what was being said? Oh, yeah, shut up, Rook!

It's quite obvious. The lack of Camo on this forum has wreaked havoc on the somewhat fragile psyche of its denizens. Without his random zaniness, we are all slowly losing our grips on our minds. The weak ones will go first, but unless something is done, we will soon all find ourselves degrading along the same path as our poor friend here. For several of us, the changes will not be evident until it is far too late, a the ghastly effects will hardly appear different from typical behavior. In fact, many could be suffering more severely than Blade, and we will be none the wiser until... until... I can't say it. It's too horrible to even think about. Damn you Camo and your awesome, unimaginable, epic, way-better-than-anyone-else's-here life. I know it's not your fault that you're too cool to come here, but why were you sent to us, only to be taken away. It's my own fault, really. I let myself get attached to him, knowing full well he wouldn't be with us forever. But I couldn't help myself. I couldn't-
