No I'm not talking about him getting killed off, that was done. I'm not talking about him getting a new costume and powers, that was done and undone....just like him getting killed, I am slightly talking about the new actor but not because the old one died off (you can't really undo that kinda thing in world reality), and I am actually talking about the new movie. Anyone seen it yet? I think I just might.
But what I really wanted to check was the slogan: Truth, Justice, and the American Way. I already know from tonight's that the last part is out. They said it was to not block the craze when it goes international. Which brings up the quote of the night from one of the interviewed specialists: "We hate you, but could you send us more BayWatch?"
Isn't it nice to know that its our media that is what is keeping the rest of the world from offing us? Superman and slo-mo beach running?
Or is the more disturbing feature that arguably the nation's most famous current pop fiction icon no longer stands for America?

"American Way" meant a lot more when everyone could construe it to mean something good. Nowadays, people might take it to mean zealot Protestantism or warmongering, neither of which are in fact the current way of the US but how people see it nonetheless.
At least they didn't try to replace the line with something else; Perry just said "all that stuff" in a humorous attempt (not spoiling anything; it was in friggin' commercials).

Leaving politics out. I saw the movie and enjoyed it. Won't say much about it as I dont want to be a spoiler. Lets just say this is a more up to date Superman with all the flavor of the comic books.

I saw it last night and liked it quite a bit. It was nice that it wasn't all action, like I at one time worried. Superman should definitely have more to it than that, and SR didn't disappoint. I liked the various throwbacks to the original movies as well (like the entire beginning and anytime Jor-El spoke). It's really too bad Christopher Reeves died before the movie, I bet he would've been given a cameo.
Only one thing really bothered me though. (Spoilers. Highlight to read- Put Clark Kent next to a picture of Superman and tell me how you can't figure out that they are the same person. I mean really, one has glasses and the other does a swirly thing with a piece of his bangs. That's the ONLY FREAKIN' difference. Seriously, he must have some ability similar to the one he used to erase some of Lois Lane's memories in S2 to blind everyone to the obvious truth.)
