Reality's End is seven years old, long passing up the lifespan of the typical web site (which is frighteningly enough supposed to only be forty-four days or theresabout).
That seventh year sucked on ice, but then again, I did not have a scanner or even internet connection for most of the summer. This summer, I not only have both, but also no college due to my immense laziness. Rock, rock on!
Too bad I am limited in what I can do since RE still hasn't recovered from its last-year rut. Tons of members have left, but no new ones have come to replace them (in the forums, at least, which are the only ones that really count).
Hopefully, this summer will go a bit better for recruitment. A lot of blokes will be disappearing (since we always lose 'em when they hit their senior year or college; they say it is because of the elevated class work levels, but we all know it is the elevated blood-alcohol levels), but I am rounding up a few ideas to try and grab new members.
Mainly, by whoring my programming talents out on other web sites. New BD monsters always bring in new members (hooray for Google!) so hopefully Taimat and whatever the Hel else I add will bring in some more BD sign-ups.

Eh- Reality'd End is better than the other website things, mostly due to the fact it has a fun "game". Sure, it isn't action packed and twitchy gameplay, but it still is hella fun.
Getting new members might seem slow, but that could mostly be due to all of our laziness on that issue, and perhaps poor choice of selection (face it- about 93% of everyone online is either retarded or just looking for porn lol). Still, RE is running at a good pace.
Hopefully we won't lose any more members. Especially ppl in BD. It's more fun the more people there are (dear lord please don't lessen the # of players. Hard enough to find matches the higher up ya go )
Just keep having hope and know a few of us are loyal to ya and won't leave ya for booze and drugs lol.

So long as new content keeps arriving, or new things are yet to be acquired (Such as people wanting 1 of every monster, relic, pokemon, gym, etc. etc. GOTTA CATCH EM ALL! lol), RE will always be alive.

Fact is Im one of the people you're talking about, but Ill still be around. It won't be as good as the old days seeing how a pathetic social life takes up more time than none at all, but it'll still be okay.
Im going to give RPeX a boost within a week, besides that its hard to say what will happen. Im just going to say that I personally would be visiting more often if:
END was updated more often and had all that crap that was talked up about it, forums were more active, etc.
Really these aren't things that can be helped or done in a day, but my interest in the features on here goes forums, END, RPeX, BD, SA, then I just dont care about RE. Still, RE looms as a nub trap, like some venus fly trap dangling its pokeballs in front of young nerds and tempting them, as BD and SA sink their teeth in and END violates them.
Yeah didnt know where that was going or how it got there.

RE visitors never come by strange search means. Used to get a lot of MIDI searches, but now the big "Huh?" thing is people looking for unusual emoticons.
Still, the biggest search for Reality's End is... Reality's End!
Dunno what it is about it, but I guess people who vanish for a good few years say "Hey, remember that site Reality's End? What was its URL again? Oh well, better Google it!" Just look at Skullkraken -- anybody remember him from way back when in the tourney days of BD? He was 'round before NDR, methinks, vanished, and now is back!
RE members may not have very long average life spans, but our resurrection rates are through the roof!

I don't think so. My brain contains materials far too valuable to be destroyed or lost, etc. That, and the fact that with my already-dwindling health it would be just plain dumb to risk any further damage (I've already lost a good 20% off my life expectancy, y'know).
As for me, I only participate in Battling Dragons because it's the easiest to participate in with using minimal time - you just challenge someone, adjust grid/AI if necessary, and leave, and can recheck in some ten days to see if the challenge has been canceled. Shadora, not quite. END and REL, I've grown too lazy. As for the writing posts, well, I don't feel like wasting RE space with my ideas which are unoriginal anyway.

Hey, don't discount the value of unoriginal ideas, look how it's worked out for Fox. (I kid. 80% of the shows I watch are on Fox.) Seriously though, almost anything creative is at least inspired by a number of other things. In this day and age, you'd be hard-pressed to find something that hasn't already been thought of somewhere. The difference comes from implementation. As long as what you did was as good/better and at least somewhat unique, people will alright with it.
If I have learned one thing in my short life, it is this- Nothing is idiot-proof.

What? Oh, that thing. Yeah that was based off the end of this short story I had to write for AP English. We were given a choice amongst a bunch of two sentence prompts and had to write 3-5 pages based off whichever one we chose. I totally BSed my way through some piece of crap story and ended up with 7 pages. The whole thing was basically filler up to the end, where this guy, hired to assassinate a corrupt king by an equally corrupt rebellion is trying to decide whether or not to kill this guy. I really wasn't sure how to end it so I just threw that bit on and decided the hell with a ending. Turned out I liked it, enough to put in a sig.

I don't think any of your updates will hurt any part of Reality's End in the end, MintMan. They add to the different aspects of the site, and even if their quality is subpar, you'll probably improve them sometime in the future, such as with redrawing some of the BD monsters, if I remember correctly. That's even what's happening with the END journal entries now, correct?
Well, I could think of many reasons why I would want to continue coming on here as opposed to many other sites. I suppose a few notable ones for me are the facts that there's no clear-cut strategy guide to the games on here , we don't have to pay to enjoy full/extra benefits like other sites, and things are slow to moderately paced so it's easy to keep up with practically every post in the forums and RPeX and most battles in BD. I like it, and I think it's great. My guess is RE will stay up as long as it doesn't hit any financial or legal barriers, in which case I wonder what the rest of us would do.
Ah, I suppose MadGoblin did a good job of capturing the RE spirit of the members with his group picture.
