Now I am guessing that Mintman already has used it and probobly hates it immensly, but Its a really cool tool for making turn based fighting RPGs, I am using it to make Necosanguin for the mere fact that I totally suck at programming and RPG maker has just opened that little boundry, I made a f*** around game using all the inbuilt graphics and s*** but for Necosanguin I'm only using all my own graphics and sounds (I just got a freeware midimaking programe, time to figure that one out now!) so yeah, Neco will be around one day and I think all you people who have visions of an RPG but with the skill of an inverted monkey skin fecies should download it and use it.I am lord of the lair my lair
In the past three years, my computer computer has completely crashed(requiring me to reinstall windows) twice. The crash of Halloween of 2000(when I had to move all my hardware onto a new motherboard and the system had problems coping), and the crash of June 2001(Ryuu remembers me telling him about this one). On that fateful day, while I was using RPG Maker 2000, it committed suicide on me -literally- by deleting itself and(!) half of the rest of my harddrive(including, but not limited to, all the folders I had stored on my Desktop).
I say again, that program is evil. I don't mind you using the resources from it, but I strongly advise you not to use the program itself. Find something else.

Do you know exactly how much that post just pissed me off? Well I am going into a state of denial and saying it was a virus, yeah, you heard me a f***ing virus!
So, if the programe is so evil, what do you suppose is better. and if you read my first thread, I'm only using the engine, I am making all my own images/chars/music/sounds so I will be on the programe for a while, but if I am using it one day and my computer s***s its self I give you permission to tell me you told me so. I personally hate the RPG maker or any game maker of any sort. I have never used them, but know enough about them to condemn them. I don't like the idea of over-stock games. It's bad enough in MUDs, but when graphical interfaces are included, monotony grows far, far worse.
One of my largest complaints is the baseness of categories and fighting style. Look at FF. Every game has a fresh new way to present skills and magic. What does the RPG maker give you? Nuthin'! That stuff can be core in making or breaking a game ...

...basicly any game making software is a bad idea, sure - it can be fun for your own use, make your own lil' games to keep yourself amused. [b]But for Gods[/b] (and our) [b]sake, don't distribute them![/b], all games made with an editor (especially RPG editor) are just so alike it gets boring!
Also people say "download my cool game" (Which I ahve) - then suddenly it tells me I need to make a 50Mb download of these RPG editor files to play the reaking thing... a game is a game, you shouldn't need a great pile of extra drivers to run it.

Heh, kinda funny, too. I mean, Camo spends all this time (i think) working on a RPG for people to download, play, and praise him and here just 'bout all here say that the thing is the very tool of th devil.

I remember in my subscription to Game Dev Mag seeing all sorts of game makers (especially shooters). How interesting can those things be? They're cookie-cutter games. Details change, but ideas stay the same. No game maker can offer a full amount of customizability unless it, for some odd reason, had the MUDesque capability of editting the raw code, in which you would be programming (more or less) and thus eliminating the point of having a game maker in the first place."I shall atone for that with an arm ring

Actually, I havn't used RPG maker for a while, I pretty much havn't touched it after starting this post, why you ask? Well its the holidays down here in Australia and I don't need any homework excuses, so I do not touch the computer during the holidays, check my email every now and then, come to the RE forums (Why can't I leave?) but I prefere to not let thingys make me think, its not healthy during the holidays you know.I am lord of the lair my lair
