LE, it sounds like you're flat out in a school that's determined to make sure you make the best of what brains you have. My school seems to only be concerned with making sure we HAVE brains.
As for the AP courses, Catholic High here in Arkansas doesn't even have any that are officially listed as AP, b/c all the classes are taught at regular high school AP level. Things still tend to be frustratingly slow, however, case in point being the aforementioned Geometry teacher (who treats most of us high school students like 2nd graders); but we get over that.
I seriously don't understand why they hired him... surely someone else had to have applied.
