Holy moly! This new layout is pimpin'-rific! It's all so much easier on the eyes! And... it actually uses Ems' lesser known things. I mean, not one Nidhogg so far? That's the biggest draw! Topo? It's not even appearing in anything currently! Super-pwn!
On an almost interesting note, when I went to the main page to read about the new Mozilla-friendly layout, I saw the counter: 123457. Yeah, that's right, one two three four five seven! Errg! So very close to super happy numberage! Why, gods, why must you mock me with your non-existance?!?!?!
Well, I'm obviously drunk...

Well, this is a bit awkward... When you have a really long thread, it stretches the lefthand panel all the way... makes it really hard if you want to get to anything without going to the top.

It's quiet... too quiet... there's no music here!!!! I love the layout, tho'. Just checked on my tourney, and, as usual, I lost. I swear, 4.0 has a major out for me.

I was gonna post about this when I first saw it, but must have forgot too. Yeah looks radical! Who's the critter drinking coffee? Also is that a Politoed on the top left or something new? If its BD I demand I have one.

The new layout is really cool...except for the fact that some people may not be happy that you now have to launch the BG music. I'm not against it, though - I mean, I use a similar style on my website.
Vinny, you use Norton? I pity thee McAfee is so much better.

No major hassle intended, but I noticed that on the BD view creature page, at least on mine, the copyright stuff is right on the bottom row of bar-links.
Other than that everything does seem new, with the new layout and the enlarged text and other stuff. Now I should probably check out the shadow aura page.

No, that's not what the green dude on the top is. I said in my prior post, "Topo? It's not even appearing in anything right now. Super-pwn!"
Topo is a ... tadpolesque creature (I... guess) for Ems' game "Rune Casters". I'm not sure if he's mentioned it before, but it is one of his older game ideas.
The coffee junkie is the nymph stage of Unscur. That's Ems third of the so-far-released Shadow Aura creatures.
... the layout ruuules!

Great, a lot to reply to * takes a deep breath *
Shockzor! I thought everyone in this topic would have been all like "The side bar extends all the way to the bottomz0r on big pagez!!1!1!11" Well of course, I did notice that. The test page had some short non-sense text for its main body, so a stretch never came up. When I noticed it, I set out to fix it... and lost my connection And couldn't get it back NetZero sucks.
Anyway, to address concerns:
To-Po is quite from Rune Casters. He has appeared only once on this site before in the four-year anniversary picture. I have had the idea of Rune Casters since about the sophomore year of high school. The furthest it has ever been implemented is in FtRPG (which was originally supposed to be the Rune Casters game... somehow).
Coffee-cup holdin' Unscur is my way of combining both my long wanting to include java in my layout and Shadow Aura.
Nidhogg is simply not in the layout yet. I was sorta rushed and released what I could since I am not using IE as my default browser anymore and I was having a lot of trouble just reading the forums. Nidhogg will go in a "Site" image just above Main in the side bar.
Nidhogg also has a good chance of going over the Planetfall logo. I have the CSS rigged so that each area of the site can display something different in the background of the header.
Above Nidhogg (and below To-Po) is actually supposed to go a JavaScript randomized pseudo-advertisement, but only for R.E. stuff. I figger it would be cool to have a chance of something popping up and saying "Slepnir was added to the Bestiary; click here to vote for it, n00b" or "A new R.E. League was added; stop being lazy and fight it."
On other additions, the header links, which are currently ugly text, are to be replaced with roll-over images for prettiness.
That squishy copy-right-side-problem sounds very probable. The old layout was being held together by a thread. There is most likely an unended table there, and just as likely there are unended tables elsewhere.
Okay, now that the layout changes have been covered, let me say why.
The old layout, aside from being terribly incompatible, was also incredibly slow. Images with four colors were compressed with eight-bit palettes, the CSS made use of very complicated positioning elements that did not even work, and the music JavaScript was probably twice as large as any page it was to be loaded on. I did not want to get rid of the music, but I bleedin' had to! It was responisble for about half of the extended load time.
Well, that has changed. This layout is made for speed and for 1024 pixel wide screens or 800 wide -- it don't matter. Just like me in a room full of women, it ain't picky... except it doesn't go home alone

I like the new layout, though I am really surprised there isn't a single Niddhog in the entire thing. Mozilla compatible, huh? Sounds good to me.

"Vinny, you use Norton? I pity thee McAfee is so much better."
Zone Alarm Pro is better still...
It has a popup blocker, firewall, spy/adware scanner and has McAfee for a virus scanner, but the GUI is so much better.
Also, a major concern on my comp, It lessened the memory drain for these upkeep programs by combining 3+ programs into 1
Nice layout too. I'm gonna have to check this out when I get home. I'm using a school comp....and they are crap

Let's see here, a few more question thingies...
The edit box for the forums, as well as the entire ftrpg console... If you're having everything else stretched across the whole screen, then it'd make sens to have the edit box stretched and the console centered.
Also, in the edit box, it shows the HTML like it should look, not with the HTML code... (ie: no < small> tags around the siggy). Likewise, I was also wondering if we'll have our loverly tabs at the top right back. I personally liked those quite a bit.

I already said:

Yeah... already dealt with.
The FtRPG console and message box are not supposed to stretch, too. See, RE still has to be compatible with the eight-hundred wide screen setting; just 'cause it looks small to us doesn't mean it is small to everyone. Quite frankly, I would rather have a little blank space for some than truncation for the others.
Centering the console, too, would terribly un-format it. I would rather keep it flush with the check boxeses.
Edit box? Er... y'mean after you edit your sig in Edit Account? How it displays what it is supposed to look like? Well, it is not supposed to display the HTML... it is supposed to display what it looks like.... hence the text "Your sig will now be displayed as follows."

I'm loving the layout. ^__^ The hrimfaxi puff drop is so adorable playing chess.
It could just be my computer, but on long pages it looks like the sidebar isnt' there until I scroll half way down. That's what I thought about the battle board too, but it just didn't exist on that page.

Well how about that? I was not even SSIing the bottom include on the Battle Board page! No one ever noticed before on account of the uselessness of the previous bottom SSI, but this time around, I am storing the side bar toward the end of the file so that the main part of the page will load faster. Good on you for catching that. * gives SailorSassyStar a virtual Cookie most coveted *
This is also prolly why you are seeing the side bar in the middle of long pages. Well, technically, this should not be happening at all. The side bar is a table top-aligned in its own little TD; it should appear flush with the top as this layout is passing W3C standards... or at least Mozilla standards.
'Tis still an infant layout. The old one had enough time for its flukes to get out. Now I have to start all over again

What happened to the pretty script-like font at the top of all the pages? It went back to the blocky and ugly console-looking type...
Can we have the other one back?

Actually, 'tis an Ol' English type o' font, laddie. Yar nary a computing machine doth display the script o' choice properly. Why, many couldn't display the former with any correctitude. I'd assume he chose this one thinking more people could view, I guess not.
Isn't there a way, tho', where you can supply a list of different text choices to use on a CSS so that one of the listed texts will be used instead of "Basic Crapper"
