Guess who just bought a new host and the domain name realitysend.com for $80 a year?
... no, it was not the invisible monkey Fred who lives in my head (oh, I shall get him yet). It was me! Whoohoo!
Of course, it isn't up yet. I have it reserved, tho'. I just gotta send in my Money Order tomorry and before you know it, you'll never have to change RE links again! This one is permenent (so long as I have the money to do so *shifty eye mode*).
I was going to have to go with RealitysEnd.net since some gaming store had the .com domain, but that place went out of business and was supposed to come back... and it didn't, so I'm snaggin' it while the prices are good! I waived the set-up fee from Your-Site.com due to a special limited-time event.
Oh yes, this will rock. I'm also movin' this forum over there so those pesky pop-ups won't appear. Better yet, your Master Accounts (i.e. your forum accounts) will finally be able to do something. I'm thinking about a quick-access page that will spill the beans on all of your RE stuff.... mmmm, beans......

Oh, you betta believe the package I got was killer.
50MB of space, 6 Gigs for transfer, fly-fast servers with 99.9% uptime (compared to F2S's .1% uptime ), and there isn't a domain transfer limit, either (some registrars actually do have one).
It has CGI, SSI, Java, C++, and then some stuff I know I shall never use (and a lot more that a few extra dollars a month will give ya).
If I'm payin' good money for this, you know it's gotta be sweet. The company has been around since 1996, so I'm assuming that they won't be disappearing anytime soon, either. The only thing I can't do is use bandwidth-consuming programs, so AT will be disappearing until I get to college

And I should have everything moved by Feb. 28; the question is by how much?
I initiated this process this weekend on the fourteenth. I figure if the entire thing takes a whole month, that leaves me a good two weeks to get everything set.
Of course, it won't just be the moving. I'm also going to have to recode a bit. I have a new way of file storage (that I use on this forum as a matter of fact) which is much better than the old method I used to use. It may take some time and annoyance to work out all the errors.
But for no server deletions, I'll take it!

That truly makes no sense whatsoever and is quite possibly the worst business idea I have ever heard. We have all become a little dumber just by reading it.
I mean, what would the test be one? How good of a site you had? People's opinions vary greatly, but in truth, only pr0n sites would get .coms ^_^

The top-dog registrars like Tucows and ICANN require a seventy dollar set-up fee for getting a domain name because them, um, own all domain names.
Domain names are not free. IP addresses are. Web sites used to be just a numbered domain with the files afterward until the actual naming came along.
So givin' it out for free would be a rather incompotent idea, no? Where's the profit? Moreover, that "special test" would have to be especially geared toward a certain one type of site, making it worthless to 99% of all other sites on the web.
