Hmm... now that I think about it, Necosanguin is even better then neopets, and considering that Necosanguin is only living in my mind, it gives Neopets a bad name.

That piece of canine fecal matter laying on the ground is better than Neopets.
Their popularity has many stems. For one, it is easily consumed by idiots. For another, unlike me, they don't care if members open multiple accounts (I know a guy with like ten NP accounts). That makes their total larger and hence they must be better (in idiot's eyes).
I think we covered the rest of the reasons already previously in this post.

Uh... maybe because hacking is slightly illegal?

They can pin you for huge fines if you mess up a site, especially a big one like them. They'd trace my IP in no time.
This place isn't the TPM forum and very easy to hack; this is an actual web site -- an actual, sucky web site.

I was just looking back on some of these older threads, and it's interesting to look at it, namely people's predictions of the greatness that BD would become. Kind of ironic that back then the members here thought that a ~100 member game site would eventually compete with a multimillion member site. One which, at last check, has actually gotten an endorsement from McDonalds and sells their stuff as actual merchandise. Monetarily, I'd say the NP peoples definitely were more successfull. But it's also kind of funny how NP was compared to BD. When I look at both of them, I don't see many similarities other than the adoption process. Which for this place I would say is a positive, becuse BD seems as though it attracts more long term users as opposed to people who stop in for a month or two and then leave. I mean, this post was made 2.5 years ago, and 8/9 members who posted I recognize because they still post to this day.

Just a random thought of the day.

  Rage against the Neo-Pets!

NP is crap. The crappiest piece of crap s*** ever be sqawned by some fat, crappy bastard's crappy ass. ... Crap.

First of all, it's hardly fair to compare BD to NP. The first of reason's being that BD should in no way be slandered by such a comparison. Allow the Gobbo to explain, for he has once been told to venture into the suck that is Neo Pets...

What you must understand is: people are idiots. Plain and simple. Neopets started as a corporate shill. They poored out hundreds of the lamest and ugliest graphics of different colored variations of the same ugly craps with slight modifactions like horns and wings so they could say "adopt from hundreds of crap! ... I mean, pets!" to make themselves look better. I mean, "oo, look, a unicorn! That sure is something new and original! Oh, wait, now they have one with wings! It's something entirely new! And, what's that? Yes, a green tiger! That sure took some creative thinking!" Let us, now, not forget the addition of pet-pets to the mix, which is such unbelievable crap to begin with that I cannot believe it. Have you seen some of that s***? "Green Tentacle". You know those stupid school designs your 1st teacher would have trimming with the smiling apples and rulers? Well, imagine one of those for a sushi bar. That's exactly what this thing looks like!

Second, yes, NP does have millions of users, but, when you consider that the average person signs up about, oh, 10 times (and most prolly go over) to rape and drain those accounts to beef up their primary one, the number drastically falls, although still quite high of idiots. Ems, you see, discourages multiple accounts and deletes them on site, for they are stupid. I doubt NP has ever deleted a single user since, well, it just makes them look bigger. Heck, I bet mine still exists there, and that was years ago.

Third, BD is for intellegent people. It always had an involved battle system that is constantly improving to allow the optimum fight possible without being a real-time battle. Smart people would enjoy this, and thus most do. Neopets, on the other crap-smothered hand, is bred by morons. You know how NP fights work? ... Exactly. I doubt they even know. I bet, though, that its some very poorly thought out system, and that's true unless they changed it since I signed up those years ago, and I doubt they have. FOR THEY SUCK! I think its just a simple power-based system of "who's got more attacking power? okay, that's the winner" stuff. And if there are more alleged stats than an attack or strength, just remember that MUDs, a very popular form of gaming for years among college nerds, had a Charisma stat that DID NOTHING in thousands of incarnations. Just cuz its there doesn't mean it's used.

Now, I shall tell you of my personal encounter with NP. I use to know this jolly bloke... well, chick, actually, by the pseudonym of Jenova. One day, I get an email "OMG!!11 U h4v3 70 s19n up f0r N30-P37$!111!!!11" (well, she said it normal, but that would have been funnier). Of course, she wanted me to sign up that way we could do things that easily cheated the system and thus got us (which meant her) more powerful. Well, I signed up, and had the "delight" of finding something amoung a sea of crap and urine that was half-way decent. Guess what? I FAILED! I eventually settled on some load of crap that was saddly the least crappy thing I could find after over ten pages of supposed creatures.

Anyway, so there I was with an account. So, I went to see what I could do. ... and I didn't. I couldn't tell what I was suppose to do, nothing made sense. It was just stupid. So, I got bored, possibly game Jenova my username and password, and never went back. Utter crap.

In closing, a note that I love to use about anything that's "very popular", which simply is something called Adventure Quest. Ever hear of it? It is the hugely popular free-online RPG that everyone loves! ... Yeah, I checked it out. I got bored in less than five minutes with the game and in one minuite with the terrible graphics. Pretty much, their idea of "adventuring" did not consist of travelig deep into dungeons, as is the very core of RPGs, but instead consisted of a single player and a single monster jumping at each in the most un-imaginative fighting style imaginable for about five minutes until one finally died (mainly yourself).

A favored testomony to the game, ad libbed but essentially the same: "All my friends said it was great and I had to play it. But, after a week, I just thought 'What the hell am I doing? This is crap!' and stopped playing it. They still do. I don't know why."

Stuff can be the most boring, unimaginative pieces of crap ever, but as long as you have a fresh boat load of idiots coming to your door who are easily amused, your masterpiece of suck will keep on shining for ages to come.

Popularity doesn't equal greatness. People are sheep and do whatever they are told, bending to the way of fad. Once it is no longer fad is the determination of something's true greatness.

Damn, this is some post Wavey Mouth

Ughhh.... why in God's name did you bring the accursed horrors known as "neopets" here? What the heck did we EVER do to you?!? Good lord... I remember playing that horrific game. The creatures just look... idiotic, and the game itself is just simply boring. Nothing about Neopets is particularly fun, interesting, or even original.

I think you people must be confused about something... I wasn't suggesting that NP was in any way at all a worthwhile endeavor. I spent probably a month or so there because some female friend told me to, and ended up mildly entertaining myself because I was bored by seeing how I could most cheat the system. Once they deleted my account, I never went back.

However, I do find it slightly sad that one person can rant SO MUCH about something that they find so worthless. If it's really worthless, just mention it and move on. It leaves a more lasting impression.

Also I only brought this back up because I thought reading the old posts humourous when reading them 3.5 years later.

Oh, I know what you were sezzin', Ice. I just really, really, really don't things like NeoPets. That, and I didn't feel like reading through the old post, so I just covered all bases so people just would have to read the new stuff.

I really do hate it, tho'. But a lot of that ranting is just madness spawned by all of those popular websites that boom from absolutely nothing. Ever hear of "TheKarp.com"? You never will again. It was like a gold town of the old west. Hugely popular and then, BAM! All the gold turns to dirt and everyone just leaves. Anyhoo, TheKarp.com was suppose to have this "Ultimate and Cool game" at it being develop, leaking out occational screen shots that satiated the already gullible visitors. Funny thing was, the guy had no prior experience making any sort of games and he was just GIVEN all these resources on promises of future greatness. Then, people like Ems have proof of ability laying around and get passed up. Yay.

Anywhos, I just really hate websites like that. I would go into all of the web comic sites that I hate, but I've done enough ranting in this topic already.

That, and the space bar on this college lab computer is sticking, so long writing would be a pain Tongue

Yeah, we get'cha, Ice, although we are still going to have to kill you. No, wait! We can kill Pokejhav instead! Hoo-ray! * for vengeance long overdue, uses the technique GroundSmite on Pokejhav 's unsuspecting corpse *

I do, however, find it quite offensive that you call me a "hundred member" gaming site. I mean, I have two-thousand in BD right now, and that is with the cumulative deletions I periodically go through to rid of the riff-raff. The forums have a low sign-up, sure, but the games are always in the thousands (save END which is still struggling to get a foothold).
At the time of this post, I probably had one-thousand accounts of undeterminable confirmation. That is still pretty dang good! Most who sign-up and are not confirmed are typically unique users; they just glib over the entire part about needing a valid e-mail address to do, well, pretty much anything and insert some garbage because they think that I am going to spam them. Pfft, losers.

'Tis funny to read, tho', and I do wonder where all this anger comes from. Gobbo I can understand since he has a hy-larious web comic that goes under-appreciated for much the same reasons that make Neopet's such a draw (that is, idiots). Now, if I went all ranty, that would mean something, but the other forum-patrons going off on it Boggle I am not complaining, but I do wonder of its suckage deserves just that much.... probably.
It is also pretty funny to read up on everyone's expectations of BD. Oh, man is it funny that anyone ever thought it would beat Neopets; be better than, yes. Even I say that, but beat? Neopets is just like the Pojo. It is not a site created by two brothers or a group of friends like Newgrounds or RPG Fan. It started out as a corporate effort and still is; it is just another internet business, and like most things on-line, it preys on the two largest demographics -- the stupid and the very stupid (being the majority).

But more than all else, this is the one thing that confuses and upsets me: when I went to Neopets probably around the time this post was originally made, I went to sign up to get material to libel it beyond the obvious and the ugly.
... I could not sign up.
I clicked sign-up. It showed me three popular creatures and two less popular ones, and that was it. "Uh, I want to adopt something that doesn't suck. There has got to be at least one."
  Nope! Couldn't get it.
I also navigated the site a bit as back then, you did not need to sign-in to do even the most trivial of chores, and I have got to say, how the freakin' Hel can it have over the millions of users when I get idiots coming to my site that cannot even find the easily provided "Sign Up" link? How? People get freakin' turned around all the time at what they are supposed to do when links on every page you go to tell you where to move next, yet they never find them and complain to me instead! NP is full of freakin' idiots; why don't they have this same problem. Morons don't seem to find any faults when crap-tastic art is involved! In that case, I should have never changed Nidhogg. FEAR!

Oh, and for no particular reason, does NDR have anything to do with the BD:DNA coming to a close? It does say in the promo thing that "The end is a new beginning"

  Woah, now, Gobbo's comic?
Gobbo's comic isn't viewed because it takes a mastermind and quick clicker to find the right link before the window closes itself. Another stroke of comic genuis, but a sure fire wy to deter many a viewer.
I would blame it on my computer, cept its the only site in the web I have ever encountered like it. SO...that is why it goes unappreciated. Who, after they view it(this part doesn't kick you off), can forget the line, it rhymes with "I have no benitals."

I have no idea to what you're talking about. It's not my CJB redirect, for I just used it with no problem. Window closing itself? That really sounds like a problem on you're 'puter. And, as a double check, I accessed it through my actual .com, and it went thru. Don't know what ta tell ya. Unless your computer has some sort of lame censoring or restrictive viewing on it, I don't know what to tell you. Linking to it to view has never been a problem that I could find.

And, Ems, NQH is not popular not due to people's idiotisms but more of due to that it lacks the following:
  • Anything Anime/Manga-esque
  • Video game sprites
  • Mature content
  • Smooth, computer generated art
All of the top comics have at least one of those. Everything else, as far as I can tell, is viewed as inferior. You know, so what if some comic hasn't been updated in five months and only has fifteen comics uploaded to it? It still will attract more visitors in its unfinished state than NQH ever will with its full array of 300+ hand-drawn-ness.

Ah, sorry, I really had no idea that you had so many members. I just took a look at the number of seemingly active forum members, multiplied that by 10, and got a number around 100-300. I guess that's not really fair, but I had no other way of determining it.

Also as an answer to your semi-covoluted rant, the people can't find the sign up link on your page because it's not a big-honking button drawing your attention to it and nothing else. That's why.

Yeah, that's another thing. Don't you have to check up on your Neopets almost constantly so that they stay in shape? How inconvenient is that!

If you want to keep them where they can fight, yeah, but you don't have to feed them, I haven't fed mine in about a year and they're still in a state of perpetual death!

I'll play some of the the games on there from time to time and I semi-regularly get my interest from the bank, but that's about it...

The only two I've really ever used in years are a really fat dragon and a t-rexish thing, both of which will eat anything! It's kinda fun to feed a beast bits of barbed wire and have them like it. Boggle

Oh, and for some reason, some of the games like Destruct-o-Match seem to be a good warm up for END, getting my brain cells flexing. Every time I've gotten an high score in END, I'd warmed up with Neopets... Boggle

As for the entir neopets rant... I apologize. I just can't help myself when I sense any sign of the game called "Neopets". Even the crappiest MMORPGs in existance are far better than that crap. *notices he is beginning to rant again* Erm... sorry 'bout that. Better just stop while i'm ahead... Nervous
