Out of pure intrest I went to go see how Crater (you know, that stinker of a site at www.pokemoncrater.com) was getting on.Anyway, the connection wasn't that great, but RE managed to struggle its way onto my browser, however at the same time crater despite being refreshed about 6 times, failed to load - in the end spitting a "no such address" error at me, and asking me to run an MSN search. It might just be fluke, or dim-wittedness of Scyther's part......but it might just be possible (fingers crossed)...Crater is dead! WOOHOO!I'm jumping ahead here, but if the signs are correct, the abomination they call Pokémon Battle Arena is dead, and with the right advertising REL could swarm RE with the number of visitors it used to have...

Bad Ash10!*WHAP*If there is ever a chance for that suck-wad of a site called Pokemon Crater to be dead, we take it! That thing was a sorry excuse for a site that had more hits than made sense. As glad as I am to hear this news, how am I supposed to advertise to reach the now dejected 'Crater goers? I don't know where they gather to sweep them up. "Mmmmmm, unexplained bacon." - Homer

Ma-hey!Nowhere better to strike than the PC mIRC room! I'm sure the sobbing saps will be piled up there, mourning their 'lose'. Sweep in like a falcon, Minty, and eat their brains!!! ... oh wait, you don't want to that again, do you? Hey, didn't we think that PC died another time? I remember this post before for some reason...But hopefully this time we're right. Also, hopefully the web master is dead, too

First off, it's pokemoncrater.com, not crater.com.And yes, Psypoke is dead. Remember that guy who was supposed to host me on Fractured Reality? Same guy was supposed to host him; guess how that went.TPM is dead, PokemonCrater is dead, Psypoke is dead. Everyone is dead! W00T! A couple more sites dead and we're in the clear.

It's not quite gone(unfortunately). I just tried it and it's still there, but it's redirecting to Aarons 'Negative Ion' page. What this means I'm not sure, but hopefully...

I may be gone from RE, Ryuu, but I'm not dead. I left the game because I was too busy with my own projects to play it, but I always have time for a message board. And I knew what Negative Ion was.

I never understood how a web master could be "too busy" for the RE League. I mean, you can get a gym and leave it to die -- it requires no maintainence whatsoever if you wish.

Well, I don't work that way. Remember, I'm a role-player, and I like to have a continually progressing story. I've just been too busy with school and other things(I've been learning DirectX recently), and just didn't have time to do what I wanted to do.

Thats why I'm working on the key systems for Another World, it'll write it's own story... I don't have to make constant inputs.I'm working on systems that let me script events, and put together key scenario's, but in the end hopefully it'll reach a stage where other players create the history by trying for domination between each other......kinda like Battletech, there are stories and things that went alongside, but much of the game history was created by it's players in their wars for domination and survivalAnyway Anaconda, I'm not here to play REL, in fact I havn't played REL in AGES, I'm hear because everyone else here is insane, like me =)

You and me both, Ryuu.I only play the REL to check if new gyms are established and then never return. I have little time to do anything else. And Anaconda: if you are a programmer, you can't be a "real role-player." Real role-playing can only come from free decision to do anything and everything via Dungeons and Dragons or what Project: Ego is claiming.Other than that, things are just "real console role-playing," which is something different entirely.

Kinda like Half-Life, eh?Megalomaniac Artificial Intelligence is good and all, but you can't program in a good, unfolding plot to go along with it.Some things can't be beaten with good ol' fashion writin', methinks. In a War Craft-esque game, however, you don't need a firm plot and the AI would be more than suffice.

I don't "freely decide" what I do? I program CRPGs, yes, but you have never seen me role-play in message boards have you?

The plan is that at some point one of the players when venturing into the unknown (scouting) will come across [exact details hidden] which if they [details removed] it unleashes the AI "player" into the world, so there is sufficient story for the type of gameplayAnd still - it's Lord of the Rings compared to the Neopet's storyline... or lakc of[Editted by Ryuujin on Jan 19, 2002 21:30]

Roleplay in a message board, isn't that were people have battles using words only? I have never really understood how it is done, and find it quite meaningless. I am lord of the lair my lair Owner of the Happy gym

That's because words alone aren't roleplaying, but rather a story told by several people at one time.If it's an RPG, it needs some sort of containment system (such as the loose guidelines of D&D).Besides, I was talking about the REL which is an on-line game and hence an untrue RPG, so calling yourself a true RPer meant nothing for something that is on-line and especially incapable of intergrating free choice in any way, shape, or form.
