Yes, I'm afraid I was stupid enough to fall for the same sort of virus that someone spoke about in a thread I found when I came here. It appeared to be an e-mail from my friend, so, naively, I opened it (but I didn't save it), only to find out that it had a virus attached.
Panicking (because, let's face it, I'm a computer nerd, and my best friend has a screen and keyboard), I ran two virus scans and even restarted my computer to see if all is well, and it seemed that way... until my friend told me that the virus might just be encrypted.
I've never had a virus before, but I pretty much know a good lot of you have, so I'm asking, how do I know if I truly downloaded this virus if nothing seems to have happened? And by the way, how do I get rid of it if my antivirus program can't even pick up on it?-Arlen

Get a better anti-virus program.
I think there is some command-prompt level virus checker that you can run. That, or you will have to look on-line for a solution.
Yeah, spammers have the ability to disguise their e-mail with a friend's name. You can usually tell that it is bogus when the text is void or very strange. Ask them before openning anything "Why you send this. dudge?"
A lot of R.E. people were having that problem a bit back. Spammers are getting worse by the day. In the last year (or so I read), the volume of spam has increased around three-fold, and that is just what is instantly blocked. Spam techniques are improving to all sorts of enraging frontiers.
I still cannot understand why Unsolicited Commercial E-Mail is still around. I mean, who actually clicks on and buys those things? Some morons have to be; otherwise, spammers would not even bother.

Probably because they're sadistic little imps who wish to spam.

Or probably because some idiot out there is masochistic enough to LOVE spam...
*shudders*
If anyone out there loves spam, just go away from the world right now... Just leave!

My e-mail provider filters spam out of my e-mail, so I don't get a lot, but occasionally something gets through, and frankly, some of them are pretty funny to see!

I've never gotten a virus via e-mail before so.. i guess I'm lucky. My mom had a similar problem a while ago... some spammer guy somehow got my grandmother's screen name and started spamming my mom with advertisements...
The WORST spam is that messenger service crap... I don't know why The people who made Windows were stupid enough to leave such an open window to spammers... Ironically though, most of the spam isn't from porn or crap like that, it's mostly from the companies trying to advertise their little "popup-blocker".
I can tell what's going on too... go to all of the sites that tell you they have programs to block messenger service spam. You should notice on EVERY site, there are many hidden similarities. Those aren't different companies my friend, it's a SCAM! They are trying to make you pay to make them shut up!
In other words... we should destroy those sites, and most of the evil messenger service spam will cease to exist

Objection. How exactly are you going to legally destroy those sites without being caught yourself?...That is, unless one of your family members works in Congress or the White House, that is... LieutenantEagle

You really need to know how to get rid of these guys, ask a real italian, a uhhhhh.... legitamate businessman. Just tell him what you want done in a nondescript way, give him de moneys, and he'll uhhhhhh... lobby congress. And in conclusion the mafia is a conspiracy by the government to make italians look bad and take care of federal budget incongruities.
