I was thinking (I know, dangerous!) would it be possible to include an edit feature in the author control panel that would only edit the author's most recent post. (I goofed a bit on the recent addition to The Mark) Sweat Drop

That probably would be helpful for the authors, but then it would mess up the voting feature since some people may have already voted on the pre-edited version. Then voters may have to re-vote, and other complications might arise.

In my opinion, the best way is to proofread and spellcheck everything before posting. I think the lock feature may be helpful for giving time in this way.

  What he said.

If you were able to catch it easily enough after making the post, you should have tried catching it before making the post. Few of us utilize the whole six-hour lock maximum so much as to worry about squeezing our post in on time (and even then, it doesn't really matter, unless someone else is waiting by and hoping that you do not make your addition on time).

Spell-check and re-read, people. That should go for most things you write in life -- not just BW.

Conker's Bad Fur Day

Conker: Well, here I am! Conker the King... king of all the land! Who'd a thought that? But how did I come to this, you say? And who are those strange fellows that surround my throne? That you also say! Well. It's a long story. Come closer and I'll tell you. It all started... yesterday. And what a day that was! It's what I call... a bad fur day!

A voting lock? Like what -- immediately after making the post, forbidding anyone from voting on it? That is just incompetent; you already have tons of time to check and recheck your post.

Do you mean a lock well after posting? That does not get past the root of the problem, plain and simple -- anyone who voted on it previously will not be voting on the same thing as the editted version.

No voting preventions of any kind. Just frickin' read your post. And Hel, it isn't like we need something to make BW get even less votes; anyone who read during a lock-out would most certainly not come back and make a vote. I even know of RElders at BW who do not vote on everything they read -- typically just the bad stuff so that it gets removed.

Stop asking the same crap in multiple posts.

At any rate, you can use the Author Control Panel (if you ask where you can find this, then you'll see me get really pissed off) to check the current status of all of your books.

As for deleting, ya can't. You can only wait for it to receive extremely poor votes and get moved into the graveyard.

Is it possible to vote to kill one's own posts?

If enough people think it sucks as well, then yes.

Um, I think you were a bit confused.

You cannot vote on your own post and therefore cannot vote for it to die. If I wanted to add that sort of exception handling, I'd just make a way to kill-up a post.

"So why don't you have a way to kill posts?" Just like everything concerning BW, it has to do with VB. Despite only three of them surviving, there were two or three more that were deleted! Did they suck? No. Did we want them to be deleted? Of course not! They were as funny as any other VapBab.

Unfortunately, the creator did not think so. On a whim, she completely deleted the forum topics that contained the interactive stories and all of their greatness was lost to the ages.

Now you can see why I don't let creators control their story. Things can go in a way that they didn't expect, and they should not be able to control its fate. It is an interactive story; everybody gets a say in where it goes and if it goes.

No delete. Plain an' simple. Suckies may take a while to disappear, but at least goodies will never go anywhere.
