I was considering the possibility of making a lot of spiffy for the frequent writers here at RE, including an author ranking, and elite stories, progressive solo stories, but I am also kicking around the idea of creating some sort of group that can help judge reported posts. This would sorta be like BW's voting system, except only people that matter would get a say (big problem with random losers and their friends voting high on their own garbage).
I think these blokes would also make me comfortable enough to give the axe to some of the older, entirely worthless stories which obviously no one is going to add to and no one even cares about, such as Dragon-Fairy Hybrid.
Maybe there could even be different levels of author, which would give a nod to some of the newer but nonetheless active writers and not just give power to those who would prolly not even know they had it. * cough cough *VinnyD* cough *

A moderation... Council? *gets an image of a small, elite, motley sect of RElders sitting in a Romanesque amphitheatre, arguing the merits of various posts in... Togas. Not a pretty sight*
Havn't you argued before against solo stories?

Naw, not RElders, and certainly not togas. This 'un would be writers, only two of which are actually RElders (Vinny and Boyo). They haven't even been much of writers recently, either, but enough to determine when a story deserves outright destruction and possibly even deletion from the archives.
As for solo stories, yeah, they are currently argued against -- because they are impossible, for the most part. Nothing stops other members from joining in on one of the stories, so it is not so much single-author as it is having a single-author who'd get really made should anyone else add.
The other important aspect is the limited pool that would be able to even write a single-author story. If you look at a slice of all the writers here, most of them have written just one post -- one to create their own story. That's sad. Solos would end up the same way, undoubtably.
The driving force behind this is 1) to make some of the more reluctant good authors to come by more often and 2) to create sorts of writing workshops that explain "Hey, this sorta stuff is stupid!"
It'd also be a way to create peripheral stories to those already completed.
