Well, Beta does sorta imply a not-finished status.
And yes, it took quite a bit to level up; you were fighting creatures much, much lower in level than you. This game uses a MUD-like experience buffer, so you can actually earn zero experience for defeating an enemy. In its current state, it is utterly impossible for you to get your character past level five.
See, the RPG you are playing right now is mostly for getting items and training, not experience. You have to wait for the actual storyline to come out in order to get real experience. (The RPG storylines are designed to carry a creature up to level twenty-five).

Need a storyline, MintMan? I can lend you the story for my RPG, which I'm making for RPG Maker 2K3.
Or you can make a game where enemies don't drop gold, but they drop Virtual Pie...mmmm...
(Now that I think about it, that actually MAY be a good idea...we've been using VP on RE for how long?)LieutenantEagle

* gives LieutenantEagle a virtual pie *
Ah, is there anything better than pie?
No, I dun need a story line; I already have one, but I still have to code it all. Bleh!
In fact, I have multiple lined up, but one at a time, right?
It also does not help that a lot of the features are not programmed in yet. I just got the scroll system lined up (offline - haha!), so now characters can actually use magic! All I need is the scroll combination feature and it will be set.
Some of the enemies will drop things, but it will be things like skins or teeth which some traders may barter for. I mean, why would a monster carry gil? And what the Hel is a gil anyway? It makes a clanky sound, but monsters do not carry coins. Monsters do not carry coins!

Minty, doesn't behemoth have a huge tail? In the book of Job, it says that it has tail like a cedar, which is why it give Biblical scholars heck trying to figure out what it was. Of course, everything is fine if it grows a mighty tail later...

Yes! The force is its navel; its power is in its loins. It tail swings like a mighty cedar.
It actually does have the giant tail... but not in its li'l calf form. It gets that when its all grown up. In fact, the Tail Swing is its big, bestial spell.
Let us see, it also holds an entire desert on its back, it can swallow the Jordan river and acres of vegetation, and it lies in the shade of a willow in a swamp.... I think I have not mentioned any of this in its bestiary description yet, have I?

Well, that should be fun to fight. I'm working on the Alicanto, the Fledgling is a perfect example of awesome BD-ishness, but the egg really is boring, and the Guide keeps looking like a horrendous genetic splice between Pidgey and a chicken... Hmmm... I need to figure out a bird that would have a closer lifestyle, and thus, a more accurate form to base the bloody thing on... We really need some avian creatures, Minty. I mean, what is the hydra? The fourth serpent? (forgot: is Tatzel serpent or bestial?) None the less, I think Alicanto will be a decent addition to the roster when I finish it. Hmmm... How to make it look? Like a turkey? Like a chicken? Like a peacock? Like a guinea fowl? Something absolutely from the weirdest depths of my own imagination?

Hey, the Hydra was not my choice; it was voted on. I thought that the Asipatra or Aitavaras would win for sure. They had it pretty good in the beginning of the votes, but then the popularity of the Hydra out-swept people's view on a need for elemental completion. Bah!
I shall make the Bennu as the next new creature. That will also give us a much-needed Fire monster.
Hydra.... that makes the fourth serpentine adoptable, fourth creature if you count the Amphisbæna: Basilisk, Jabberwock, Tatzelwurm (which is both Serpentine and Bestial), and then the Hydra. At least this snake will have some actual Serpentine characteristics and attacks to it.
Alicanto, eh? Well, you have to go for ground fowl most likely. If nothing native to South America looks quite right, try piecemailing it -- give it a cool raptor head and go down into a dodo or something.... that would be a funny lookin' basis -- the dodo!
Of course, I am quite mad
