I want to know what the items are for in Battling Dragons, can you use them while you are Battling someone?

No items now as far as I know. Dragons can acquire skills when MintMan wishes it, and possibly items can be found when the RPG comes out, but you're a little early on the items idea.

Items are in the RPG (such as the spear), but that is apparently for your sorcerer and not a familiar. Obviously, familiars have a hard time utilizing such tools without aposable thumbs.

I have been kicking around the idea of Runes, which would be completely fair for BD, but the method of how to acquire them is what really is bothering me. I would most likely utilize the RPG system, but I'd need to find some way to make sure that the Runes would be difficult to secure (not impossible) and to restrict in some form how often a player can get them.

I already know full well what their effects would be in battle and what penalties would also come from using too many. If I could think of how to make sure they can exist in not too great a quantity, then I'm set.

Runes are the only thing I could really use for web battles. Runes have basis enough in mythology (especially Norse from which the bulk of the foundations are in) and they can be cast on anything, so why not creatures? They sum up the very essence of magic in a consise, do-anything form and allow for activity of the sorcerer character without interference thereof.
Other sorts of items would have problems. Not only are there a very limited pool of mythological items that are not weapons (which I could believe most creatures to have difficulty in wielding), but they also usually have specific effects or not practical enough an effects. And the methods for acquiring such things I would find very strange. Fall in love to get the sorceress to drug the dragon? The Hel?

Yah, MM. I know that you have said this at least once before, but the way that you said what herbs and food are for make no sense to me whatsoever. They eat the food 'cause they're hungry. Wow that has alot of purpose to it. I'm probably just not understanding your high level of writing, but hey. I am apparently not the only one. *thinks* I wonder if you added that to the new FAQ that I've only read to typing part on. *goes off to raid FAQ for answers*

Didn't I already answer the question about herbs and food already someplace else? Well, here it goes again.

In short, they do nothing. They are a throwback from the "Adoption Game" which was to be Reality's End's first real JavaScript game that was stopped in production due to an atypical block (which was very common for my JScript games to encounter -- Quick Quest, Runic, et cetera -- before I made the R.E. League). Thus, those two items have absolutely no use.

And their use would be a little more easy to understand if you people would play more monster raisers / MUDs. Things eat food because they are hungry. They get hungry when they don't eat. Know how you get hungry when you don't eat? The same thing applies in game terms. Eating is an 01|> $(|-|001 concept that few games implement today, but I did try to hold on to it. After a set interval of time, you become hungry in a game and would thusly suffer in all forms until filled or eventually starved.
Herbs were just healing items the sorcerer used on a familiar. They healed and did nothing else and could do nothing in training mode because familiars can't get damaged.

Thanks MintyKero. Yah, I know that you said it somewhere else before, but if you read what I typed you would see that I said that. I just didn't understand how you said it before. I got it now, not that there is much to get since you just said that they don't really do anything. Anyways, thanks for the more understandable answer.
