Let it be proclaimed! On the start of this day of oddity and ill fortune that a new terror stalk this realm. It shalt be dubbed many names: sprungwurm, stollenwurm, but, above all, the Tatzelwurm!
Our friend the Tatzelwurm is of Germanic origins, a cryptozoologic creature with sightings spreading throughout the Alps. Commonly discribed as a sort of reptile with the face of cat, in more archaic times it was a huge dragon who watched over the forests it lived in. One thing always stayed the same throughout time, however: once it saw you, it launched a snarling, whistling, flying attack of fang and claw, the likes of which you'd never wish upon your most dire foe Lair of Mad Goblin - Home Lost Soul, a far from average Pocket Monster Fanatic Fiction, and my personal brand of home grown insanity...
Not Quite Heroes - On-line comic that's everything but normal. Everything from diabolical meat by-products to men comprised of mayo jar...

I like this one, especially since it has the three-stage form like the Nidhogg...But my most favored feature is the cat-like features of the face. If Kero doesn't make this one...I'll...I'll...Well, I don't know WHAT I'll do, but if you bring this one up to Kero, I'll glady support it, MG. Let's hope your Bro takes it in. ^^- Cheetarius Gryffith, Saphire Leader

Of course I'll allow this one. I've known he was going to make it for months now. He just now got around to making it and waited until the thirteenth for dramatic effect, I guess.
This means that there are two non-me creatures and four me creatures; I'm at a 1-2 ratio and that's the way I likes to keeps it.
Yeah, I reckon I'll have this thing up by the time I finish the forums.
Speaking of new creatures, someone submitted a Gryphon for Battling Dragons. STOP. Neither get your hopes up by the fact that a creature was submitted nor down because, well, a creature was submitted (I have some real horror stories about them).
The artwork is good. It was entirely computer done, but that is not my main concern. The pictures, too, are only of its three stages (no spells) and are very light in colour. Every other BD creature has a black, night sky save the case of the Monoceros in which a dark blue sky was chosen so that its horn could be seen.
Those aren't bothering me either. What I don't like is how this person obviously is not a buff on either myth, legend, or folklore in general or concerning the gryphon. The egg was not agate as the description tells; there was no scenery involving harsh mountains or lairs of gold. The creator also has no BD account so far as I can tell.
So, I have this outsider wishing to make a creature about which she only knows of through mostly happy fantasy art. I am so torn. Even if she tries submitting the creature's spells, I might have to refuse. That would really suck.

Sorry, all of you. This is coming from someone who is a fan of the tatzelwurm of mythology, and has read all available literature upon the subject. First of all, the tatzelwurm has a double row of teeth.
Secondly, the tatzelwurm is completely furless. It is supposed to be like a large caecilian, not a mutant cat. They are around 3-14' of length, and the width of a grown man's calf. If I had JPEG making technology on this rust bucket CPU, I'd send MM my own drawings, but all I've got is bitmap.
Again, sorry to burst your bubble.

Whoa! A Tatzelwurm buff! Where were you when I was talking of this thing in January?
First, let me say that I am well aware of the fact that this is probably in no way what a stollenwurm looks like. It's nearly impossible to find any good, consistent information on this thing. I am, by the way, aware of the hairless version; however, I desired to make a creature with some flair to it and wanted to incorporate the unique "Beast/Serpentine" phenotypage. I have come across several pictures of this thing being nothing more than a cat's head on a furry tail with fore-limbs, and that's the one I used.
Second, this is BD. In truth, none of the monsters look like they are suppose to. Nidhogg: Do you think it looks anything like this? I doubt that any beast of death would be purple! (no offence, mk18) Kamaitachi: This one is really screwed up. They aren't even suppose to have sickles for hands, that's just how their name perpetuated a newer image for them. We're artists and a character creators. Just as with the previous creatures, we take librities them for interest.
Third, no creature, I don't care what anyone says, has a set definition of appearence. Every town probably has their own version of how a regional fantastic beast looks. A short example for the sprungwurm: Most say it has two legs, other four, while some six or eight, and still others say none. Some claim it was a fire-breathing dragon with wings that stood taller than a man attacked with ferocity while some saw it as a scaly, cigar-shaped lizard that looks more pathetic than a threat (or so the hoaxes wanted us to believe).
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm also not saying I'm right. What I am saying is this is how it is from the best of knowledge I was capable of compiling on a creature nearly impossible to find out about without knowing German or something.
Contrarywise, I would love to learn the folly of my ways. If you could direct me to any sources whatsoever that may be of service to my education on the arassass, I would be most grateful.

If you can find it, read Investigating The Unknown by Ivan T. Sanderson, it provides a lot of insight into the myth of the tatzelwurm.

Wow, if we are talking bout that creature on the BD login poage, it looks cool!
the first form looks like a pokemon, the second looks Kamaitachi style, but the final form is nice.....
Also I like the way the lightnin gets bigger through each form, nice touch Gobbo!

Yeesss.... That was completely voluntary.
Anyhoo, there seems to be a huge splerge on creature making going on, what with two just having been made and actual worthy speak of two more, increasing the total by 33%. It just makes me get to thinking of what I have in store for this place next.
Keeping in the tradition of spanning across the world, my highest considerations are :
Cu Sith, Irish hounds of the Fairy Land (ie: hell. dem musta been some funky fairies ), but since these boys are 'Beasts,' I'll probably save'em for later.
Odontotyrranus, a massive, elephant-devouring amphibian of the Gangese from Greco-Roman myth. Problem with it? A large lack of information.
Lou Carcohl, a monstrous mollusk from French folklore. Yep, they have themselves a big, ol' snail monster. Problem with it, an absense of information.Lair of Mad Goblin - Home Lost Soul, a far from average Pocket Monster Fanatic Fiction, and my personal brand of home grown insanity...
Not Quite Heroes - On-line comic that's everything but normal. Everything from diabolical meat by-products to men comprised of mayo jar...

Hey, I haven't posted the spell list for Tatzelwurm yet, have I? Well, here it is! All of the other new creatures got one, so why shouldn't it?
Tatzelwurm Kitten, Bestial/Serpentine
Pounce - 20 Power Bestial Attack
Frighten - Reduces Enemy Strength by 20%
Tatzelwurm Stalker, Bestial/Serpentine
Razor Assault - 30 Power Bestial Attack
Frenzy - Raises Strength by 25%
Infectious Presence - 25 Power Poisoning Spell
Tatzelwurm Guardian, Bestial/Dragon
Aerial Strike - 45 Power Dragon Attack
Blood Lust - Raises Strength by 35%
Flame Breath - 40 Power Fire Magic Attack
Hey, this reminds me. I've gotta go back and redo the percentages and powers on Monoceros's and Kamaitachi's forum explaination pages

A common thing with any wyrm, particularly tatzelwurm, it emitting a poisonous fume by breathing, thus tainting the area around it.
It's a pretty common thing said about it. It'd actually be surprised if one couldn't find that said about it at least once somewhere.
