  Hmmm...

*pulls out a candy cigarette and sticks it in my mouth*

Well, took Boyachi's advice and looked back into the past. Gotta say--wow...

Now I see the reasons. Everyone has seen this so many times, they've lost all patience with it.

Dang, sorry bout that guys...Woo...some of these...jus...woo...

Still though, Im gonna fight for new comers ta stay, even if they have lowish IQ. I mean, people can get good exp offa that, yknow? Plus, the more people that join (and stay), the less monotonous it is to fight the same 4 people at each level over and over again, and also it adds more predators and prey in the mix. Gettin a little depressed lookin at the higher levels...nothing easy comin to my little Dark_Vision. *sighs*

Unfortunately, animewatcher, the fact is that most of the time newcomers either sign up on BD and never actually battle, or stay for a while and then leave before hitting the double-digit levels, whether turned off by the slow pace of the battles or for other reasons. Searching through the users, one can find so many more lower level creatures than higher level ones. Also, the ones that do stay and reach the higher levels tend to be better at battling and harder to beat.

Of course, you could always try to custom-tailor your grid and AI to deal with your opponents, and avoid those you continue having problems with, if you want to avoid losing. I do agree, though, the higher levels are more difficult to surpass. I believe my Ryu has gone for about a month without battling...

Well, the big turn off is:
50% of all users who sign up for anything never use it.

Don't believe me? Look at any forum every anywhere throughout all existence that has a member list. I guarantee that over half of them have never made more than three posts, if a post at all! 'Tis the nature of the net and its short-attention-spanned constituents.

If you want to get into the particulars, the plain an' simple fact of the matter is that BD isn't like other things. People typically like what they are familiar with, especially stupid internet goers. That is why I strive even harder to keep a higher grade of patron at Reality's End -- not only so that everybody has a more enjoyable time, but so that we don't have to baby die-hard lack-wits that would ask "What's a ban?" all the way 'til level ten!

That, and if you hit a few challenges (and not even many) of stagnation, I can see why anyone would leave. I need to revamp the battle board into level divisions with stricter staying-on rules.

A month?! Jeez Draggy! How can you stand it!?

Unfortunately I am gonna haveta agree that today's society relies too much on keeping interest. If it doesn't entertain them for a lengthy period of time, they leave. If the object is too complicated to figure out, they leave. If the attraction is too short and only gives them a moment of joy, they leave.

Ermmmm...*scratches my head* The thing to figure out is how to keep people in BD for more than the first 3 levels. there are more fools than there are cats (stupid people vs. curious to figure things out people). So how do you keep a fools attention to such a complex system like BD, meanwhile not taking away what the system is all about or dumbing the game down?

  What's a ban?

Oh and the answer is Genetic Coding.
