"Sirrah, you have insulted my honor. I demand satisfaction. I challenge you to a duel! *slap*"
Conversation is growing stale, and no one seems to be caring anymore. Therefore, I thought I'd spice things up a bit. I decree an official challenge to the people of BD: A race to the twenty-fifth level! All players (less myself and Mint, for reasons expounded later) are encouraged to get off their lazy butts and start doin' stuff! (Too bad that only, like, five people will see this message. Mint should really advertise the forums more...) But, why should anyone care at all? Why, it's for ...
Since the race takes players to the level of monster exchange, the player who wins the race will be rewarded with a monster of their choice. I will take whatever they say, design, detail, deform, and defame it into an actual adoptable creature for BD that, of course, they will be easily capable of switching to without losing their high leveled one (hence the choice of level). This is why I have excluded myself and MM from the go, if we want monsters, we just makes 'em. On the down side, you must also watch...
When a proclaimation such as this is made, it might just cause people to blindly fight their way up the ladder mainly sponging on the lowest leveled nincompoops out there. As of such, I am requiring that the competing creature's Valor is of a certain degree, showing that it actually earned its status. This number will probably be somewhere between 30 and 40.
Well, I've done my work. A post has been made and hopefully people will care. Oh, and be on the look out for: 1)New Kamaitachi pics and 2)Tatzelwurm, a new monster, coming at you soon!Lair of Mad Goblin - Home Lost Soul, a far from average Pocket Monster Fanatic Fiction, and my personal brand of home grown insanity...

Coolies, people doing the promoting thing for mintman!
Well, I have issued a challenge to "Kevin" which has been around for quite sometime, and of a matter of fact, you should know, that training a beast is easier said then done, you just don't go, well I feel like upping the little f***s level and just do it, you just can't!
But then again, I would like to see a creature called the "MintGoblin" a two headed beast, one with Mintmans face, the other with Mad Goblins face, and the body of a squiral.
you did say any creature right?
Well be thankful you are getting a reply, there might not be another for a few weeks!

I think Gobbo meant any creature that still follows all of the rules of Battling Dragons, id est it still must be one from mythology or folklore.
Second, you actually have to make it to level twenty-five.
I'm glad to hear about a new creature comin', tho'. After Mono's done, I only have the Basilisk planned on in the works, and Jabberwock is gonna be put on hold due to its incompletion.
Jun 6, 2002 6:35
Yeah, I know its a flamin' monkey to level up, and that's why I proposed this. The real hope is to get people down low up closer to us. I mean, there are (pretty certain) less than ten people of level fifteen or higher. That's just bad considering that there are hundreds of BD players. And, in truth, it's really not that hard.
When I was 'coaching' Six Grey's Jabberwock (the best term I can think of calling it ^_^), it didn't even take a month to jump up to level fourteen from starting. Why'd it stop there? 'Cuz their was a gap in the levelage! People really have to bust their way out of their ruts and serve as platforms for the mightier to stand upon! ... er, I mean... nothing. ...

Mintman is just loosing his spice, you would think it would be more popular being a dot com, but it just isn't, maybe you should think about doing some advertising Mintman?

Or, maybe start up a new RE series....Maybe a multiplayer game series. Or just a new lineup of games...Cause, now it sorta has been the same games for months, if not a year...Experience the Game XP The Game Forum Moderator at CnC Detonation News Updater at CnC NZ.com

Arena Terrae is a multiplayer game, and it proved that it's probably not such a good idea to have another. Too much bandwidth, or whatever that's called. 'course, Mintman does have the .com now.... so maybe....
And all Mintman has to do to get people to come to the forum is to purposely put a bug in a game so that everyone will come to complain about it. Then we'll be surrounded by whiny children though, so it might not be such a good idea.

I seriously dunno if Mintman is getting that many people who come here and stay, like, the little s***s come here, get a level 15 or so dragon at the max, then bugger off!
I have no suggestions right now, but I am trying to find out a working way of getting visitors at my site.... Not that long ago I sent a chainletter saying you will get cancer if you don't go there or somthing like that, but I think they don't really work unless you do the love life ones, but they are s*** and not as fun!
Jun 7, 2002 22:42
For the last time: no multiplayer games. I simply don't have the bandwidth for it, even with a dot-com. Moreover, Arena Terrae proved that visitors of RE were never on at the same time to even play such a multiplayer game.
What I am thinking about, tho', is making a downloadable semi-multiplayer game that would only use two individual computers' connection and not my site's bandwidth, but I'd have to read more into sockets in order to do that. Keeping the number of players small, too, would increase usage, too.
Okay, there I three things that I'm hoping I can do this summer in order to increase my hittage. The first is making Legend of the Gilded Jewel. I've figured that one week of uninterrupted work could get that off the ground easily enough. Making the story line and finishing the one for Land Across The Sea is going to be the difficult part, but I figure I can side-line work that while completing the second facet of my summer plans, the Battling Dragons RPG. I want that thing freakin' out. I've decided to put all pimp ideas I've had for all the adventures I've thought up of for the BD RPGs into the first installment so that I can make sure it's worth it. The final thread of the plans is to make the BD comic, which I might never get to do. It'd be nice, tho'.

Seriously Mintman, you should do somthing with my programming friend, you 2 could do some mean s***... You talked to him once on your chat thing and you didn't like him, he don't like you either, but if you programmed together, you would be an unstoppable pair!
Jun 8, 2002 9:20
Well, I didn't mean the bandwith multiplayer...I meant, like you said, and connection between two comps multiplayer. And, the problems with double teaming programming is that not everyone has the same style. Say you wanted to print the data of a file in Perl...Mintman might do it, for programmes here, with the for loop, or while loop. While the other guy might hate the way he does that. See, then come huge conflicts...ect.Experience the Game XP The Game Forum Moderator at CnC Detonation News Updater at CnC NZ.com, CnC Zone, Renegade Legion

I know a guy who goes around with the name PerlGuy. I've been talking to him and a bunch of guys who know him recently, and I've only just remembered Perl is a programming language. Quite a shock. ;-P - Cheetarius Gryffith, Saphire Leader

It'sa really old! But, did anyone ever get here/want it? I mean, I saids I would and still make promise to my word.
In unrelated things: Leeko leeko leeeeeko! I'ma squeaky guy! look at my squeaky pants dance!
-Mad Goblin would like to apologize for the previous statement. He is an idiot. The challenge, however, still does stand. ... or sit. I don't really know what it is that challenges do exactly. Maybe they bake muffins, I don't know.-
+ Gobbo also apologizes for any lose of brain cells caused in reading this +
You just remembered this because of the Race Around the World contest at BD, right?
I did too. I came back here a few days ago and dug through the archive to find this post. I always wondered if anyone ever won that....Endless Horizon: http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/verdegym

Guilty as charged, Writer77. In fact, I had thought that I made this topic during this year. I was all like, "Oh, it's only a bout three months old... plus a year?!?"
Link: Shuddup! Seriously, dude, that's so not appropriate! Stick to the topic, not your petty needs. If you want people to fight you, don't use the message boards, use the friggin' board designed for people who are trying to find fights, the, shock, BATTLE BOARD!. I mean, dude! ... Why?
Oct 5, 2003 15:24
As one could probably tell, it was this challenge that inspired me to make the current contest.
For those of you who do not know yet, there is a new contest that challenges people to make a new Battling Dragons familiar.
I am considering adding a sub-device in which even rejected creatures get some mention, like put up in the bestiary or something (along with prizes, of course -- go relics!).
Oct 5, 2003 16:38
So... I'm guessing there have been a few more people with rejected entrys, such as my own first drawing of Zaratan. Then again, I knew it'd fail, at least at first. I'm thinkin' I may need to be usin' the Hawai'iki (I think that's how it's spelled) as opposed to Zaratan, 'cause it's the only thing I can find stuff on. That is, if I can even draw the thing.
...No, I won't post up the picture of Zaratan here... it's kinda funny, though. The bad kind of funny, of course, but still...Endless Horizon: http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/verdegym

* cough *
Funny how I revived it at a year and three months past death only to do the same again
Geez, lookit this rag. Talkin' 'bout AT and all sorts of garbage. Oh, what a muddled topic. And, still, none have staked a claim.
What was even the requirements for this thing again? Level 25. Well, now it's Lv. 20. First come, first served, people. That, or whoever offers me a strumpet

Well, hell. Mista is Level 25. I'll claim it. What do I need to do, now, choose a mythological creature that I want made into an adoptable familiar?
Well, I think a Chimera would be interesting. So let's see whats you got, ole Gobbo.
