Breaking In the Splinters
New function use a-go-go!
This is nothing against the current course that AR is taking, but I thought it was a perfect story to show the power of the Splinter system. From the second post, such a clean break and change of direction really distances what's going down between the two. I tried to touch down on things that weren't much touched upon in the other lineage. Really, the whole post came from over analyzing every little nuance from the first that seemed up in the air.
Also, AR' is chock full of involved, longer posts, and with this path I aimed to keep about the same size as the first to get back to the era of fast-paced rapid-posting! Or not! Reply

Re: Breaking In the Splinters
hmm...my first impression would be......*drum roll* wtf mate? ^^
So this splinter system doesn't follow the ideas of the story as such? I got the impression that it was like: character A kills character B in post 2 and then in the splinter maybe B kills A instead...
But splintering is actually more like using the same characters/setting for a new story? Or am I not understanding this properly?
also, will summary splintering be shown too? Reply

Whole Lotta Possibilities
It could be that, yes, but really anything could be splintered. Heck, I could not like what I presented as a 2nd post and make another 2nd post sometime down the line (not likely, tho').
The philosophy of the Splinter is just to ignore everything past Post #X in the story and make an addition as if what was beyond that point was never written for whatever reason (didn't like the outcome, just had a really cool idea, someone got to the story before you did and replied to it but you really wanted to post there, etc.). Following Ideas/Summary
The Splinter System does follow the ideas of the story, my friend. However, it only needs to follow the story up until the point it was splintered. AR was really only a setting and one character by your first post, so there was a lot of wiggle room.
If a story were splintered later on rather than after the first post, it would bear more relation to the rest of the story.
If you click on the summary from the story, you will see the post-by-post for that particular path. However, the link from the story info page does only give the default path's summary. I'll change that. Reply
