The Wyvern is a classification of dragon. It has only wings and two legs -- located either in the regular location of the front or hindlegs. It is quite often depicted with a stinger, much like that of a scorpion, or a barbed tail. ![]() Although it came to be synonymous with pestilence and war, the original Wyvern was a symbol of healing and enlightenment. Its breath was that of life, and it was noted for its intelligence and magical abilities. Later, it became a ferocious monster, quick to anger and bringer of pestilence.
