This rather strange creature comes from medieval heraldry. It had the foreparts of a deer with the hindquarters of a horse. It represents indecision.
Many suspect that the Hippocerf is based upon the real-life animal the Irish Elk, which is an extinct species of deer. It was about the build of a draft horse and was adorned with ridiculously oversized antlers. The name Hippocerf means... well, "horse-deer" ("hippo" is Greek for "horse" and "cerf" means "deer"). What else could one expect? Future Development: The Hippocerf was not originally created to be adoptable in Battling Dragons, but simply because I felt it would be a good (that is, easy to defeat) enemy for the RPG. Although it could easily be made into a full-fledged BD monster, I believe that few people would opt to adopt one. Content-type: text/html
