Gargouille | ||
|
Gargouille was a dragon from northeastern France. It inhabited the river Seine around the city of Rouen. It created waterspouts and other watery anomolies to disrupt the citizens and stole livestock from the farms. It was not above eating people as well. This dragon possessed a much darker talent, however. Those who stared into its eyes immediately had their souls damned. They became twisted remnants of men existing only for serving their draconic master. They were gargoyles. And end was finally put to the beast when Saint Romain devised a plan for slaying the beast. He lured it out with two condemned criminals tied to a stake. Once it had emerged, he presented a crucifix which instantly rebuked the dragon. He led the monster into the city with his stole wrapped around its neck where the was slain in the streets. Gargoulle's name is derived from "to gurgle".
