There are two very distinct definitions for the Chang Nahm. It seems to have originally been a hybrid creature, with the foreparts or head of an elephant and the tail or hindparts of a fish. A different Chang Nahm is a very tiny elephant that otherwise resembles its larger counterpart. These small creatures have strength in numbers, not size. They swarm upon their persuers and inject a toxin from their hollow tusks, and persued they are since their tiny tusks grant a magical protection. Typically, it is described as an aura which placates elephants. Rare is it to find these tiny creatures. They live in remote swamps in high mountains. The only thing visible from above the mud is their tiny trunks. Recently, the trade of mummified remains of the Chang Nahm has been made known. These are typically skillfully prepared shrews, tiny venomous mammals with long noses. The name Chang Nahm translates into "Water Elephant". |
