Demoness
In Texts:
Ammit was an Egyptian demoness with the head of an alligator, the rear of a hippo, and the mid-section of a big cat, typically a lion but sometimes a leopard. Each of these animals are considered especially dangerous in Egypt. Unlike most hybrid beasts, ancient imagery of the Ammit often depicts each of her sections clearly divided from one another with a line whereas most combination monsters, such as the Gryphon, blend the contrasting sections. Despite being specifically described as female, Ammit often sported a mane.Cub
She sat waiting near a lake of fire by the scales of justice in the Egyptian underworld, Duat. Anubis would weigh the deceased's heart against a feather from the good goddess Ma'at. Should the heart be heavy with sin and tip the scales, it would be given to Ammit. She would usually devour the heart and thus the soul; by rare accounts, she tossed the heart into the fiery lake.
The name Ammit means "Bone Eater." She earned other titles such as "Devourer of Millions," "Eater of Hearts," and "Dweller at Amenta," the place where the sun sets.

Future Development:
The Ammit was originally intended to be a complete, adoptable monster. The first clue to the troubles of this is the fact that work began on it about two years before it was finally released.
In the final few months of its development, one big problem remained: there was no third spell for the Ammit. Even after conversing with the previous claimant to the Ammit, long-time BD Artist Bimblesnaff, he had difficulty thinking past one spell.
One day, Ammit will be a full fledged Battling Dragons monster. That day will only come, however, when its creator can come up with a third spell.
